Uk Affairs - Sterling is taking a Pounding

One for the things I learned today for me too.

A quick google suggests itā€™s not unprecedented in recent times, but this is a much higher profile role than the ones they normally give to Lords.

The back benchers must be seething at being passed over like that

Garret did similar in 1981 appointing Jim Dooge to the Senate and making him Minister for Foreign Affairs.

He could have given Suella time to brush her hair before he sacked her.

Itā€™s beyond comprehension that they had her as attorney general and then as a minister twice. She is scum. That sheā€™s elected at all let alone made a minister is alarming.

Youā€™d assume Rishi is trying to move the Tories back towards the centre in time for the General Election

Yep, 300+ Tory MPs and he goes outside them all to bring Cameron back in. They wonā€™t like that.

At this stage Iā€™d say heā€™s just trying to assemble an inner circle of people who arenā€™t insane

His wife forced him to appoint him as the only fella that Garrett would listen to.

Pippa Hackett is a Minister for State now and gets to go to cabinet but not vote.

Think there was one other historically.

Wouldnt be sure the electorate will respond too well to bringing in the architect and chief hand washer of brexit.

In theory yes but in reality the ship is already sunk

Yeah, but in fitness to Cameron he did lead the remain campaign and the UK public now realise he was right and the leave campaign was all lies and Brexit was a mistake.

He must have been bored out of his skull for the last 6-7 years

They should have given it to Moggy

Sean Moylan was Minister for Agriculture for a while in the 50s while a Senator.

Dooge was a CBC Monkstown old boy like yourself.

Some career for him tbf.

Mad that Sean Moylan lost his seat in 1957. Fianna FƔil had actually seen a big jump in seats.

Itā€™s no wonder he does be like a dog looking over the neighbors fence at the rubby.

Cameron is a classic example of a ā€œsensibleā€ conservative pandering to the lunatics and being eaten by them. Itā€™s a pattern that has repeated over and over again throughout history.

His party over country decision to pander to them has been a disaster for Britain, and a disaster for the Tories themselves.
