May would have to get parliament to agree to this but we know most MPs are positively brimming to head back to the polls to seek fresh mandates in the wake of the Brexit vote. The Tories have a thumping majority in the polls at the moment so the PM may just be gambling on significantly boosting her rather slender majority in Parliament.
Corbyn is a terrible leader of a terrible opposition.
A strong tory win gives a mandate to accept the shite deals coming down the tracks from Brexit.

Theresa May is the most popular PM ever!!! at the moment.
She has no mandate really at the minute having not been elected. This makes tough decisions in Brexit negotiations difficult to make.
The SNP would likely lose seats in a new election meaning the Scottish referendum would be off the cards.
Labour in disarray. Lib Dems finished as well. UKIP kind of rudderless now that they are leaving the EU.
The only thing is they’ve previously ruled out a snap election, wouldn’t be like a politician to change their mind.
This would be standard protocol for the Queen being dead either. PM generally announces it. But you’d surely have heard rumours of that.
