Scotland have
Swathes of excellent agricultural.land. They have an excellent tourist industry*. They have a thriving drinks industry. They have oil if they need it. They have a well educated English speaking* workforce. They have a stable reliable legal system and society. They have lots and lots of room for industrial development down the Glasgow Edinburgh corridor alone. They have a land border with UK, and can access continental Europe without having to sail around or pass over another country.
In short, they have large advantages over Ireland, which has the highest living standards almost anywhere.
