Am getting quite concerned for Dave and the lads. The Tories should be 10 points ahead of one of the most incompetent Governments Britain has ever seen. Tories are not half radical enough. Hopefully the Liberal bounce will just mean that the bleeding hearts that usually vote for Labour change to them this time. It all comes down to the 100 marginal seats and if the Tories lead by 5% they will still sneak a majority.
Sky News reporting that Gordon Brown called a voter a âbigoted womanâ.
The man is imploding.
In fairness, itâs fucking beyond ridiculous that the media make an issue of a few words muttered in a private car between two people. Iâd say that if it was Cameron as well by the way. Big Brother is watching.
Brown looked broken today as they played the recording back to him ⌠he was last seen off towards Bridgend with a rope !!
Remarkably similar to a scene from the thick of it
I think itâs fair game personally. No harm at all in exposing politicians for what they are. He was probably right, she probably was a bigot. But if he believes that he should stand over it and thereâs no obligation on anyone else to cover up his hypocrisy for him.
Iâve just seen the video of this now, brilliant stuff.
Thatâs probably Gordon done for now anyway.
FORMER Hibs, Scotland and Celtic player Murdo MacLeod said today that Labour had ârun out of puffâ and it was time for the Conservatives to be given a âkick at the ballâ.
The BBC Scotland football pundit, who won 20 Scotland caps and played at the 1990 World Cup in Italy, gave his backing to the Tories.
Scottish Tory leader Annabel Goldie announced the former footballer was backing the party as she campaigned in the target seat of Argyll and Bute.
MacLeod said: "Itâs time we gave the Conservatives a kick at the ball.
Labour have had their chance over the last 13 years and theyâve run out of puff and have no new ideas.
âThe best thing we can do is to vote for the Conservatives to give Britain a fresh start.â
He went on: "The only way of getting a new government is to vote for the Conservatives. The Lib Dems and the SNP canât get Labour out of power. A vote for them will risk another five years of Labour and we donât need that.
âLetâs give the Conservatives a go or we will be stuck with Labour.â
His daughter Marina, who turns 18 on Thursday, will also be voting for David Cameronâs party.
Miss Goldie welcomed his support, saying: "I am delighted that both Murdo and Marina are supporting the Conservatives.
âThe momentum is with the Conservatives in this campaign and we are set to win seats all across Scotland.â
The BBC has to remain impartial in its coverage of the election but a spokeswoman said MacLeod was a freelance sports presenter and not a member of staff.
She added: âBecause he is not staff and because the area of expertise he is in is sport and not politics, there is no question of impartiality being breached.â
Greens are 4/5 to win a seat with Boyles. They are favourites to take Brighton Pavillion and are strong in other areas like Norwich so worth a punt imo.
Its been taken down now, but racism in Europe is about to take off to epic proportions in the next couple of years.
I feel a war coming.
Something for us all to do anyway if we run out of work.
Itâs still working for me Kev.
Quality clip. Like something off Road Wars.
That is fucking super. Load of Asians in the add before it aswell.
He fairly waded into em
at the beginning of this you are thinking this lad is going to get the fucking mother and father of a bating.
but no fear of the fucker he more than held his own, willie oâdea like almost.
great clip.
Thatâs hilarious. Almost looks like itâs staged.
I see the Guardian reporting that the fair weather forecast for today is a good omen for Dave. Apparently on 5 of the 7 ocassions since 1945 that the government has been ousted itâs been fair to nice weather. Indeed of the 9 elections since 1945 where the weatherâs been good, 6 of them have resulted in changes of government. The Tories have had 6 wins on such days since 1945 â in 1951, 55,59,70,79 & 92. Iâd have to query the Guardianâs accuracy on meterological conditions in 1979 though.
On the (slightly) more scientific analysis which I saw on the BBC this morning they were saying that bad weather days normally favour the Tories (presumably the old âmore committedâ chestnut) and pointed out that Mrs. Dennis Thatcher won all three of her election wins on rainy days. This would call into question the weather conditions in 1979.
The weather forecast for today is generally pleasant though. However, I see theyâre actually forecasting light rain and showers in the leaders seats at Kirkcaldy & Cowdenbeath and Sheffield Hallam although Witney may escape.
I heard the opposite Manuel. Contrary to popular belief bad weather has no impact on turnout whatsoever apparently. 2005 and 2001 were great days but turnout was terrible. Tory supporters are far more likely to vote stastically so that is concerning.
Would be surprised if there wasnât a high turnout today considering
- The relative closeness of the election
- TV debates meaning more public interest and more youngsters registering to vote
- Popular vote as well as seats being considered in some quarters as a mandate of sorts. More motivation for people to vote in seats that arenât considered to be marginals
that cunt deserved a beating for spitting in his face,
Some bizarre odds around at the moment. Greens are 8/13 with Ladbrokes to take a seat but 1/2 to win in Brighton Pavillion with most people. Paddy have taken down constituency betting but all day they had a Green candidate at considerably shorter odds than the entire party. Weird odds compiling.
Exit poll from BBC:
Conservatives: 307
Labour: 255
Lib Dems: 59 (!!!)
Ind: 29
Very poor from Lib Dems if that follows through, thatâs a drop not the big gain they expected.
