They don’t have regular passports. They lose them on the flight over :person_shrugging:t2:

I’d say that number is higher again since February.

The same lads who oppose Ukrainian refugees coming here would be the exact same people who would oppose refugees from the North coming down here should God forbid a major outbreak of violence happen.

80% of people in Russia support their barbaric war against Ukraine. What’s your point? That policy should be decided entirely by opinion poll?

So no limits? How do you propose providing services to new arrivals when young Irish people can’t find accomodation, the average waiting time to see a GP in rural Ireland is now 2-3 months and 2-3 years to see a specialist (by which stage often too late for successful treatment).

Wokeness = suspension of reality.

You do understand there’s a war, yes?

You spent years going on about the treatment of Jews in the run up to and during World War II. And now you’re the very same as the people that condemned those Jews to death.

It’s grimly hilarious.

The likes of you and those cunts going all NIMBY against refugees are nothing more than pea-brained NIMBY cunts with all the human empathy of a snake, with apologies to snakes.

Nobody rational is opposed to Ireland taking in its fair share of Ukrainian refugees fleeing a war zone.

My family helped dozens of refugees fleeing NI in the 70s, sio you can fuck right off with the rest of your ā€œinsightā€.

Please fuck off with your ā€œinsightā€ into anybody else.

Nobody needs any insight into you to know you lack basic empathy for other human beings, you display it every time you post here.

Why don’t you take a refugee in your own home if you feel that strong about it.

You can be sure the tourists staying in Ardillaun didn’t arrive into Dublin/Shannon/Cork with ripped up passports. Your argument is ridiculous. Comparing apples and oranges.

We dealt with two Georgian gentlemen at work a few weeks back. They had arrived into Shannon on a flight from Budapest late at night. They descended the plane and immediately threw themselves onto the tarmac claiming ā€œasylumā€. They had ditched all documentation. This is a common tactic among non-genuine refugees. Bear in mind the country they originated from is not currently classed as ā€œhigh riskā€ for citizens welfare by the UN.
Anyone who thinks we should be taking in arrivals like these two guys, unvetted, is not well.

Genuine asylum cases should be processed with a cap in mind, depending on the current level of accommodation available.

This is nothing racist about a sensible stringent immigration policy.

This is certainly true. The fascists are very organised in Ireland. I’d imagine there’s some very genuine people in places like Inch whose heads are filled with propaganda from the National Party or whatever they’re called. And they are dangerous cunts. Without going into details, they came to my workplace and tried to assault (they landed a few punches) a colleague who had stood up to them

When the genuine people are told to fuck off and that they should be shipped off to a racist part of the world, you can see why they might lean more towards people peddling disinformation …

So it’s the lefties’ fault the dimwits are with the far right?

It’s your fault specifically.

There is a whole cohort of posters on this forum who have set up to deny this fact. The currently 13 posters who ā€œlikedā€ the screed of shite by @Gary_Birtles_Lovechi above are a good pointer as to who they are.

Deplorables are generally self selecting.

This seemingly sensible or moderate view is of course against international law. A genuine asylum case isn’t something that anyone should be rejecting on the grounds of ā€œthe country being full.ā€ It’s untrue, immoral and selfish.

We have obligations under the Geneva Convention and under EU law and EU policy that we should be meeting. A more mature or sympathetic society might welcome the chance to offer protection to those ā€œgenuineā€ cases you’re mentioning.

But regrettably many people opt for mealy mouthed statements like the one above which amount to basically vetoing any refugee’s rights, lest they inconvenience the selfish minded who would rather ignore human suffering.

A policy would be a start.
I’m an Irish citizen, same as yourself mate. No need to be so defensive on behalf of your fellow Fingal resident. He got clamped, move on.

Corrected.
