Might be out of the range of the likes of Fagan or Boxty, but if the rest of you can manage it, this could be the foot in the door to a future of coke filled days in Chateau Marmont, Star Wars is coming calling.

FANCY YOURSELF AS a bit of a Jedi? Handy with a light sabre? Fond of trotting out your Yoda impression?
Then this could be right up your street.
The makers of the new Star Wars film have announced that they’re coming to Dublin on the hunt for actors to fill two lead roles.
The BBC reports that Disney (which owns the Star Wars franchise now) is looking for an “beautiful, smart, athletic” actress to play a girl in her late teens and a “handsome, smart, athletic” man in his late teens or early twenties.
The auditions will take place in Filmbase in Dublin 2 on 23 and 24 November.

The roles being filled are those of “Rachel”, an orphaned teen who has been forced to make her way in a dangerous, tough town, and “Thomas” who has “grown up without a father’s influence”.
Efforts have been made to disguise a connection between the auditions and the new Star Wars film, but the BBC says it has confirmation that the roles are for the next title in the franchise.
Auditions are also taking place in cities across the UK.

12 Years a Slave by Steve McQueen is out soon. It is getting rave reviews with some saying it is amongest the best ever films.

I thought Shame was brilliant. I wasn’t blown away by Hunger but I must revisit it.

Looks fantastic alright. Thought both Hunger and Shame were magnificent.

New Coen Brothers film out in January too. Great releases in successive weeks coming up now.

Watched Saving Mr Banks over the holidays, bit sentimental as you’d expect, but an enjoyable film with good performances from Thompson, Hanks, Giamatti and a nice turn from Colin Farrell who seems to have turned his career around quite admirably.

It is my contention that Will Ferrell is not funny, Anchorman is not remotely funny and Anchorman 2 is even less funny than the original.

Apart from Old School obviously.

I’m undecided on Will Ferrell in fe era but Anchorman wasn’t close to being funny.

That Step Brothers film is an unholy pile of shite.

Surely a film about some cunt being a slave for a dozen or so years will be shit.

Anchorman (1) is utterly shite and i have no intention of watching the second one. I was a few months late watching it and couldnt believe gimps raving about it and quoting it ad nauseum as i stared in disbelief at the unfunnyness unfolding. I also considet the hangover films to be puerile shite, oh theres a tiger in the room, oh my god. Fuck off. Braindead muck and evidence of the decline of western society.

Films like dumb and dumber, kingpin, theres something about mary were real comedies. Films of that standard are few and far between. Hot tub time machine, the forty year old virgin were two passable recent comedies but they have gone way downhill.

Unless it was a sex slave or something.
