Upcoming Movies

Wow, Top Gun Maverick. I mustā€™ve cried about 7 times during it. Thank god the lights were off. The goose story was played perfectly, when Maverick looks on at Rooster playing the piano in the bar :disappointed_relieved: The flashbacks to Meg Ryan :sob:

The top gun intro at the start has the hairs standing. Whole thing far better than expected. Probably no call to have Penny in the movie. Pete Mitchell did not need a female love interest. His first and only love is the Navy.

Go and see it. Youā€™re a good guy.

This is intended in the best spirit but you tend to overthink stuff (based on your posts here).

Itā€™s two hours. Go and I think youā€™ll like it. If you donā€™t then sure no harm.

Everything Everywhere All At Once is, well, itā€™s something else. It wonā€™t be for everyone, and many will hate it, but itā€™s the sort of movie that should be made and deserves to be seen. Itā€™s batshit crazy but the performances and direction are incredible. And anything that puts Short Round back in the picture again has to be a good thing. Michelle Yeoh is off the charts in it, youā€™d wonder now she got her head around the pitch at all. Actually youā€™d wonder how anyone did.

It was a simple response to @Tim_Riggins post where he said that thereā€™s something wrong with somebody who doesnā€™t like Top Gun, Iā€™m not much of a movie guy anyway and Iā€™ve never enjoyed that kind of thing, thereā€™s probably dozens of movies you loved that I thought were shit.
Donā€™t worry about it like, but thanks for the kind words :+1:

I said the new one. You havenā€™t seen it so why do you keep engaging with the postā€¦?

Because I keep on getting replied to, like my post was out of the blue. Thatā€™s how it works, people like different things, I donā€™t think anybody is right or wrong to enjoy whatever they do :man_shrugging:

I never saw the first Top Gun first time round. I only watched it after that Tarantino clip in Four Rooms where he notes itā€™s a gay film and Goose says ā€˜Maverick you can ride my tail anytimeā€™

That quote was never in the movie and no I donā€™t normally look up and watch movies if someone reckons aspects of it are homosexual

I said thereā€™s something wrong with someone who doesnā€™t enjoy the new Top Gun, you keep talking about watching Top Gun when you were a kid. :face_with_monocle:

The new one is a far better film. I was taking to a gaggle of women who thought the original was pure shit (aside from the beach volleyball scene etc) and thought the new one was great. Itā€™s a brilliant action film but also has good depth. Great performances and a great soundtrack. To put it into perspective the first one was 57% on Rotten Tomatoes, this one is 97%. Itā€™s not the greatest film of all time of course but if you are someone who enjoys going to the movie theatre, I canā€™t see how youā€™d dislike it.

Top Gun 1 and 2 are septic. A waste of money, donā€™t go near the latest one.

Thanks mate, look itā€™s gone to far now, I wasnā€™t making any big point, Iā€™m not a fellla who goes to the cinema without the kids anyway, and it doesnā€™t really appeal to me so Iā€™ll leave it there. But Iā€™m glad that you and others have enjoyed it :+1:, I know the original was a classic movie, well got and all

I didnā€™t realise that it had only just come out in Ireland. I saw it a couple of months ago, it had a really slow build in the US but has done very well. That and Top Gun have saved the movie theatre. The AMC stonks crowd who didnā€™t get out when they should have getting some minor reprieve.

Iā€™d be with @backinatracksuit here. I would have no desire to see Top Gun. Probably a film that lads with ADHD would like.

I used to go to the cinema a lot before the pandemic

Spider-Man No Way Home was the big one really, that blew the box office wide open again. Iā€™m stunned Everything Everywhere All At Once was such a big hit, it really didnā€™t seem like the sort of film that would capture the audience the way it has. As for it being out over here, Iā€™m not sure it is, I downloaded

Youā€™ve lost it mate

Recruitment numbers will be the real acid test, not box office take.

He never had it!

That loving feeling?

True, I think we have to look at Marvel differently though. Itā€™s a different beast.
