Upcoming Movies

Watched The Hurt Locker last night. A damn fine film, great performances, really grabs at you, the insanity of it all. Very well made, just a shame Bigelow will be railroaded by her ex husband come Oscar time. Well worth seeing.

Will give The Road a go at some stage this week.

Hurt Locker

The Road is very good, really well made, but its grim as fuck.

Fantastic film; itā€™ll be recorded as a Classic.
Bigelowā€™s use of A listers for the small bit parts was genius, this imo is what made the movie.
Its the first movie in years that actually had me sitting upright, I didnā€™t realise it until the phone rang and I found myself poised like I was in an exam hall.

I repeat here what is on another thread; I hope Ms Bigelow wipes the floor with her ex on Oscar night. The Hurt Locker is definately in my top 20. (The ending in the top 2.)

Iā€™m going to watch it again tonight.

Hurt Locker was good.

Nothing special though I thought.

Farmer mentioned Green Zone on the other movie thread, Greengrass, Damon and a decent script looks good.

Kick Ass is getting great reviews, sounds like a huge big bowl of mental from Mattherw Vaughan about a guy who trains his kid daughter to be a superhero vigilante. Nic Cage stars along with yer man from Superbad (that guy really needed to change his name, its too complicated to remember ever).

One I mentioned here before, Shutter Island is getting good buzz too, a horror movie from Scorsese, sounds good to me.

I Love You Phillip Morris seems an odd one, a black comedy featuring a gay conman (Jim Carrey) falling in love wih his inmate Ewan McGregor. Not sure how much I fancy the sound of that myself, but its getting good press and I do like both actors.

Ondine is the one with Colin Farrell from Neil Jordan, sounds a little whimsical for me.

The Blind Side is the one that Sandra Bullock was nominated for an Oscar for. Based on a true story of a home decorator who invites a homeless blak teen into her home and tries to give him a start in life, both academically and sports wise. Worth a look maybe.

Does anyone know if Greengrassā€™ film on the murder of Stephen Lawrenance is available on DVD? Bloody Sunday was one of the most vivid recollections of an event that there is.

His recollection of 9/11 was equally superb.

A really top notch director this bloke is.

Kick ass, meant to be good, mclovin should just deal with it and change his name to mclovin, christopher mintz something

blind side meant to be excellent, the guy was drafted for the ravens last year

id agree with you on ondine, whimsical shite

greenzone= bourne goes to war to an extent, id concur with everything you said farmer except ā€œblokeā€

Chris Morrisā€™ movie on Jihadis has been premiered at long last. Reviews have all been pretty good so far.

Movies I want to see in the near future

The Expendables: Stallone, Arnie, Willis, Eric Roberts, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, whats not to like!!! Just a shame they couldnt get Van Damme as well, or ven Chuck Norris!

Inception: Christopher Nolan doing a heist movie, gotta be worth seeing? Starring DiCaprio, Cillian Murphy and Ellen Page.

The A Team: Ah just to see, cmon, its the A Team!

Hot Tub Time Machine: This sounds nuts, canā€™t wait to get a look at it, have a DL of it, but looks to be pretty shit quality, will hold off for a better one.

Kick Ass: Again have a DL of it but its pretty shit, so dont want to ruin it by watching a shite copy. Might just bite the bullet and go to the cinema to see it.

Salt: Angelina Jolie thriller. Originally set for a Cruise or the like, was retooled to suit Jolie and is getting good buzz and talk of franchise. Will see.

The Losers: Got some good early hype, but the reviews havenā€™t followed up. Special Ops film starring Chris Evans, Jason Patric, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Zoe Saldana.

This Bad Lieutentant film looks like it might be good. Promising reviews in the major organs so far anyway.

Anyone see this yet?

Yep. I liked it. Itā€™s quite slapstick so not the subtle satire of some of his other stuff but itā€™s generally funny and very funny in some places. 7.8/10

Thank you Rocko. Might give it a blast this weekend

Predators promises to be a real  movie, big fan of the franchise myself.

I wonder what the Wall Street 2 will be likeā€¦

When Youā€™re Strange: A film about The Doors sounds like it could be decent.

[/quote]Will Val Kilmer be playing Jim Morrison again? if not itā€™s fucked already!

Oleg Taktarov is in that Toes, he had a very tough fight with Tank abbott back in the day.

Coming down the tracks

Inception : Christopher Nolan, DiCaprio, Cillian Murphy, ellen Page, Jospeh Gordon Levitt, Michael Caine. Sounds mental bit of a Matrix meets Bond vibe to it. Nolan doesnā€™t make bad movies though so this should be a must see.

Jonah Hex:Josh Brolin, John Malkovich and Mega Fox. Seems to be a space age western of some sort, will most likely be shite Iā€™d say.

Thor:Part of Marvels attempts to line their ducks in a row for the upcoming Avengers Franchise. Cant imagine this will be any great shakes, but the inclusion of Kenneth Brannagh as director would interest you ever so slightly.

Let Me In:Remake of Let The Right One In. Have yet to watch the original so think Iā€™ll give it a spin before this comes out hopefully.

Get Him To The Greek:I like Brand and this strikes me as amusing shite. Iā€™ll give it a watch.

Death At A Funeral: The original was shite, but this is meant to be very good, even with Martin Lawrence in the cast. Its still got Chris Rock, Tracy Morgan from 30 Rock, and James Marsden who pops up in some weird places but is very decent.

Greenberg:Ben Stiller playing black comedy role. Its getting some good reviews, basically him plahing a carpenter who comes to LA to housesit following a nervous breakdown and the relationship he forms with a girl he meets.

Knight and Day:Donā€™t know much about this other than it stars Diaz and Cruise and is meant to be an action comedy of sorts, not dissimilar to North by Northwest. Cruise is box office and is making a comeback of sorts. Might be decentā€™ish fare.

Predators:Someone mentioned this somewhere else. Cant say Iā€™d expect much from it, but the cast is a little mental, Adrien Brody, Topher Grace, Danny Trejo, Alice Braga, Laurence fucking Fishburn, and its got Robert Rodrieguez pushing it strongly. The original was excellent entertainment, and they say theyā€™re aiming for that vibe, if they get close it could be enjoyable.

Regarding Thor. Stringer Bell is in it. That makes it worth watching right off the bat.
