Urgent Help Needed

Im actually dredging something from the back of my mind here about the folks oul boiler which looked somewhat similar… have there been power cuts of late? They can cause little air blockages which kill it each time. There was something we used to do but im not sure what. Is there a little thing that looks like it could bleed a little oil? Keep pressing the button intermittently anyway

I remember her now, an ungrateful, mouthy lassie with a Morris-Traveller.

She told me she’d won the Tyrone Ladies senior badminton final when she was 15.

I’d say bleed it a little before firing up again. I had an aul boiler like that one time, it’d fire up for a few seconds before cutting out again, you might have to bleed it 3 or 4 times before it’d fire up properly.

Usually it’s air trapped in those things. You’ll have to bleed it and pump it. There used to be a button on our yoke 30 years ago like the thing on a lawnmower for after you bled it to get it pumped in again.

That looks like an antique altogether though

Looks like a rielo with the cover discarded. I’d check the level in the tank and if that’s not the cause of her woes, bleed it until there a good squirt coming out of it.

What age of a wan is she?

Pretty sure this grey yoke is the culprit, since hitting it with a hammer had the boiler going for a minute.
A dual thermostat, or a flux capacitor, or something…ive talked myself into a corner as regards fixing it. She has me for 10 gallon of kerosene, shur she may as well mug me off for a new grey yoke

  1. Plenty of oil coming

Warmflow safety stat. She’s maxed out there, turn her down to 3 or 3 and a half and see will she fire.

I twiddled about with it earlier, it fired a couple of times, lasted a minute and stopped…then a tap with a hammer…the same. Nothing now.
Should i just try replacing it?

It might not fire if the pressure inside is too low. You’d pick one up for smallish money if we’re talking town wages.

You could bridge it out if you were cheeky and find out for sure.

By bridge it out you mean complete the circuit and see if it starts? Like this fella?

Yes. Pick your favourite mother in law to help with the wiring.
