This Fred Ridley chap as Chairman of Augusta National is a fraud.
For the Butler Cabin ceremony you need a proper hard nosed old school Southern racist who would have been out demonstrating in favour of segregation back in the day. Chairman Ridley has all the intimidation factor of Panti Bliss with flu.
The Butler Cabin is supposed to be intimidating for the winner and for Jim Nantz, like it would have been for a nine year old entering the layer of JC McQuaid in 1955. The ceremony has lost the Patrician air required. I also suspect it is not held in an actual cabin, but a building.
Jim Nantz is a creep.
I loved when Hootie Johnson called him his “good friend”.
Jim always sounded like somebody pleading for last minute clemency ahead of getting the electric chair.
Chairman Clifford Roberts is the benchmark.
I’m shocked and disappointed to have learned in the last five minutes that Hootie Johnson was a Democrat and the son of an anti-racist. Johnson supported black politicians in the 1960s.
More reassuringly for Augusta National’s brand, he was later kicked out of the Democratic Party for supporting segregationist Strom Thurmond.
I never realised tiger tied the lead in 2011 the year of mcilroys meltdown.
The only time I’d say tiger tied the lead in a major and didn’t win.

Struggling with his putting all day, Tiger Woods was in jeopardy of losing a major for the first time when leading after 54 holes. The only player who was able to take advantage of this was Woods’ playing partner, Yang Yong-eun. Defending champion Pádraig Harrington was in contention early, but made a quintuple-bogey 8 on the par-3 8th, causing him to fall from tied for 2nd to tied for 10th. Lucas Glover also reached contention, but faded with 4 bogeys in a span of 7 holes. Tied on the short par-4 14th, Yang chipped in for eagle from just off the green. The eagle gave Yang the lead which he did not relinquish. Yang sealed the victory by drawing a 210-yard (192 m) approach around a tree to within ten feet (3 m) on the final hole, setting up a birdie against Woods’ closing bogey and a winning margin of three strokes
Wow, I knew it was a few years back but didn’t think it was 2011. Will he ever win it?
Fancy Will Zalatoris to go well at 25s. Has a good record around Augusta and is in fine form coming into this.
What sort of a season is Rory having? Can he win the Masters this year?
I find it hard to believe he won’t win.
If the course is downhill, and there’s a wind, he has every chance.
Those of us on the Rory bandwagon for some time now certainly believe.
He can certainly shoot a final round 65 after shooting a Saturday 78.
Seems to be working on his swing with Butch again which isn’t a great sign imo.
To the casual observers like me why would it be a bad sign? Whos his regular coach?
He’s only tweaking his irons swing a small bit.
Nothing to worry about…
Michael Bannon, his coach since he was a sprog. I think it’s more using Butch’s facility rather than direct coaching.
