Its not that uncommon to have US winners of the Masters turning to the Eternal City when it comes to matters spiritual. Phil Mickelson and Mark O’Meara would be two other examples of a relatively recent vintage.
Zachary Johnson also. Not a Masters winner but 2001 Open champion David Duval is also of the Romish persuasion.
