Then you give the game away by talking about “people running to the press”. “Running to the press” = leaks.
Leaks are true.
So you quite obviously believe the story is true, it’s just that you yet again choose to employ a rather obvious form of cognitive dissonance - obvious to everyone except yourself.
Trump has a similar sort of cognitive dissonance to you. You can’t complain about “fake news” and leaks. They are mutually exclusive.
In any sort of organisation, you expect the person leading it to not be a highly dangerous, fascistic moron who treats reality as a deadly enemy, ie. you expect the person to be sane. The reason leaks are coming and will continue to come is that even that person’s own staff all know that he is a monkey with a gun. Even the most blinkered Republicans in Washington know that, though they do a damn fine job of denying it and acting publicly like startled deer in headlights.
I’ll tell you what’s not leaking - the Mueller investigation - that’s because it’s being headed by a highly experienced and exceedingly competent public servant with professional staff who trust him, and who is steadily building a case which will bring down that monkey with a gun.
Like you, I have no idea whether the story is true or not. I simply don’t trust a media that is so biased, and has demonstrated on several occasions now they have no problem reporting false information in their zeal for a story. Remember when it was reported that Trump directed Flynn to contact the Russian ambassador during the campaign? Was that fake news? A major news outlet lying to the public.
Mueller’s staff professional? Would that include the lead investigator that he had to remove for bias? Mueller’s investigation is going nowhere, which is why he is expanding it beyond its original scope. Which is what special councels always do to keep the gravy train going, remember Ken Starr?
The only story regarding Russian collusion is that the DNC paid for a piece of garbage dossier from Russian sources and the information was used by partisans within the FBI to obtain warrants to spy on Trumps campaign. Clearly you are OK with this, which demonstrates the finest example of cognitive dissonance imaginable. Political corruption by conservatives is to be condemned but applauded when it’s conducted by liberals.

The chap that was removed was removed precisely because Mueller has been so professional and was so insistent that it be seen to be above board. The Strzok chap did nothing wrong. Political opinions, as you’ve said yourself, are expressly protected under the US constitution, and this guy was equal opportunities in terms of people he didn’t like - the Wall Street Journal (Murdoch) story which yourself and Fox News parroted was shown up as a sham. First of all, learn to spell. The special counsel is by definition the lead investigator. That’s why it’s called a “special counsel investigation.” I’m not familiar with the word “councel”, perhaps you could fill us in.
But apparently you think the special counsel isn’t investigating anything.

We have a situation here, where a regime was embarrassed, against its will, in to allowing an investigation, and is now attempting, by underhand means which threaten to destroy the rule of law and democracy, to shut down that investigation when it doesn’t like what’s coming out of it.
The first part of that, ie. the setting up of the investigation, only happened because elements within the US body politic (for once), as well as the press, forced it.
The second part, ie. the attempt to dismantle the investigation, is now threatening to happen because the Republican party not just stand idly by and give in pathetically to Trump’s brand of totalitarianism, but actively enable it against the background of a sycophantic disinformation and propaganda campaign pushed by Trump-friendly “media” outlets.
This is what happens under a totalitarian demagogue - the demagogue pushes and pushes and pushes to see what they can get away with, and the grotesque becomes normalised and gets worse, because nobody will stand up to the totalitarian demagogue. Nobody in the Republican party has the guts to stand up and say anything other than, “yes, go right ahead and undermine and dismantle the institutions of state, because we personally stand to gain from this”.
