Has an FBI Director ever been fired by POTUS?

It’s Obama’s fault.

It’s not for nothing that “bait and switch” have the initials BS.

Goebbels Conway (I’d forgotten she existed) came out with a beauty on CNN last night.

“You’re looking at the wrong set of facts” (to Anderson Cooper).

Alternative facts, the wrong set of facts, whatever.

It has been funny watching Republicans defend the decision, then having their quotes from last year read back to them.

The second ever FBI Director to be sacked. Without googling (which I did already), anyone know who sacked the previous one?

What about Kuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuusssssssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhh?

While I greatly appreciate you informing me, on three separate occasions, that I am not under investigation

 I can’t read this without picturing Alec Baldwin saying it on SNL.

Clinton, who as far as I know wasn’t under investigation for treason, sacked a guy called Sessions.

Now Sessions has sacked Comey for “what he did to Clinton”. Yeah, that’s the reason, alright.

Sessions was sacked for misuse of his position and FBI resources it seems. A cursory glance would suggest it was an odd enough case.

Do your job as a journalist, get arrested.

But of course there is NO clampdown on a free press.

Or something that like that.

Interesting article. Two important points.

First is that the White House apparently had no idea that there would be an enormous backlash:

“Instead, advisers were attacking each other for not realizing the gravity of the situation as events blew up. “How are you not defending your position for three solid hours on TV?” the White House aide said. Two White House officials said there was little communications strategy in handling the firing, and that staffers were given talking points late Tuesday for hastily arranged media appearances”

Second is that it appears to have been motivated by the Russia investigation:

“He had grown enraged by the Russia investigation, two advisers said, frustrated by his inability to control the mushrooming narrative around Russia. He repeatedly asked aides why the Russia investigation wouldn’t disappear and demanded they speak out for him. He would sometimes scream at television clips about the probe, one adviser said.”

“But several other people familiar with the events said Trump had talked about the firing for over a week, and the letters were written to give him rationale to fire Comey.”

Read it earlier. Fake news. So sad.

Incompetence is the best possible defence here all things considered. No other explanation really works and “We didn’t think it would be a big deal” is likely as good as they’ll get. If they sacked him knowing the gravity of what they were doing it suggests that they were willing to take a hit to disrupt the investigation. Which is a lot worse.

Expect a statement (tweet) sometime after he meets the russian foreign ambassador later today.

If he was being held to account, it would be difficult for him to explain why he was firing a guy for actions that he had openly celebrated.

This is fucking gas. O’SULLIVAN won’t go until the shredding machines have stopped and me bucko in the states get canned so they can bring in the shredding machines.
