The victim’s brother seems a very admirable person and his compassion seems very genuine
But his genuine compassion is misplaced - the murderer is going to appeal her conviction - where’s the remorse there - and his reaction just plays into the hands of those who want to systematically downplay the crimes of whites, while simultaneously systematically vilifying blacks and justifying the disgraceful mass incarceration of them - even though that is not his intention - but is the reality
To answer the following point, what whites find compelling about the victim’s brother’s reaction is that it gives them a handy narrative to downplay a horrifying racist murder by a white person which should have resulted in decades in prison

When he first said he would accept foreign help in elections from the Russians it was a big scandal. Now he’s openly calling for it from the front lawn of the White House.
