US Politics - A Society in Meltdown

Well - seeing as the police escalation had started in advance of his death and as we’ve been advised on this thread the police are “trained” in crowd control and do presumably inured to provocation I’d say no.

Setting curfews in itself is provocative. It escalates the situation. It creates a conflict point in every day.

Good doc BBC2 now

Perhaps - political groups tend to be focused on their issues not those of others. I would say though that his death has been seized on by Fox News et al as quickly as it has been ignored by others. Why is that do you think?

They shouldnt be cautious. Really?

You think the reason behind the curfews is provocation?

The lads here want to allow the rioters and looters to do whatever they want, cause wreckless damage then catch a few cops on camera swinging their batton and shout excessive force and tut tut about murica. They also seem to think cops trying to move protestors or enforce curfews by use of tear gas are war crimes. The videos so far show the cops using a lot of restraint, pushing some journalist out of the way who wouldn’t move or firing a bit of tear gas to disperse crowds is not excessive force, to give a couple of the examples posted. There was a video posted of ‘protestors’ literally physically assaulting a journalist along with stealing from him and there wasn’t a comment - another video showed a cop pushing a cameraman and they were outraged (pretend outraged)

No one has argued that George Floyd’s muder wasn’t despicable or that the cop shouldn’t go down for a long time. It was disgusting to watch.

The protests are absolutely legitimate but none of the lads here will debate the escalataion of some of these protests, the aftermath, burning of cities, rioting and looting genuinely. It’s mostly just with the purpose of looking for a ‘gotcha’ moment, you’re ‘racist’ etc, trying to get some likes and cred. It’s not genuine, nor in good faith.

Where or how are you watching fox news?

This is outrageous in the courtroom straight from the off.

Standard practise. The US is so fucked, this is happening in Portland of all places, the supremacists have their tenticles of hatred in every white household over there by the looks of things

Looks staged

No fucking way that Police Officer makes that mistake by accident or by being stupid. Clear as day what was happening.

The prosecutor didn’t seem all that bothered either.

Thats the case right there

Why would a group calling themselves black lives matter not be concerned about black people getting killed? It demonstrates the hypocrisy of the movement, they only care if the murder is committed by a white person or cop. All black lives should matter surely.

Why would a National TV network like CNN not cover the murder of an officer? Is it not newsworthy? Surely Fox covering it is a good thing as it should be newsworthy to reasonable people.

Is it confirmed that the police officer’s actions were racially motivated?

Nobody arguing that a man wasnt murdered and the murderer shouldn’t face justice. That doesn’t justify infringing on other people’s rights.

Yes its pretty obvious.

You continue to miss the obvious point.
