US Politics II To Trump or not to Trump

Somewhere in America there is a man desperately trying to stop himself logging in to TFK again to try and defend this decision.

He won’t be able to restrain himself.

I doubt it. @Cheastybot will just flood the forum with nonsense.

That’ll garner a few likes from the usual suspects so well done on that.

She’s spot on, you know, and some of us have been saying this sort of thing for many years.

Imagine there were people who believed this.

Roe v Wade cheapened life. We can see its consequences decades on. Putting the genie back in the bottle is pointless at this stage.

Setting aside the obvious issues with this judgement, how are the republicans absolutely destroying the Dems in so many different parts of the country when it comes to judicial issues? I know RBG made the bed for this ruling ironically but in general the republicans look to be making extremely large changes at all levels

What an idiot you are indeed. Would like to see his defense of this.

Do you believe protecting life is what this is about?

Not anymore.

i) Because the voting systems throughout the US favours Republicans and disadvantages Democrats.
ii) They are organised in an almost military-like fashion, and fascist propaganda works.
iii) They are about the naked exercise of power, whereas Democrats are constantly divided and utterly afraid to exercise power.

Gorsuch and Kavanaugh lied under oath in their hearings, as was obvious at the time. Meanwhile most Democrats still believe in Michelle Obama’s nonsense “when they go low, we go high”. Democrats will do nothing, because too many are bought off. These are the so called “sensible moderates” a former poster talked about.

Have no doubt that the end goal of this for Republicans is a federal ban on all abortion, all same sex marriage, all everything that gives civil rights to vulnerable minorities. And they will likely achieve it.

Republicans trade under the insanity of so called “originalism”.

What is “originalism”? It is an ideology that desires the same rules that pertained in the 18th century. Slavery was permitted in the 18th century.

“Originalism” is a brand name for slavery ideology and all that goes with it.

Look at Putin and Russia as a demonstration of the threat the US faces from within. Far too many people thought Putin wasn’t serious. But he was. He was and is a Nazi. Republican party is essentially the American Nazis party, and that’s no exaggeration. An essential part of the triumph of Nazism is the gaslighting by self styled “adults in the room” that the Nazis are actually reasonable politicians.

Those derided as “hysterical” have continually been proven entirely correct while the self styled “adults” have enabled the American Nazis.

You can’t really gloss over the RBG factor either, that’s just a monumental fuck up that actually ends up at Hillarys feet.

So is the problem the democratic party being stuffed full of weak and self serving cunts? No one is going to be a radical moderate

@mikehunt-bot and @Cheasty-bot are all over this :upside_down_face:

Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s views on Roe v Wade are actually quite relevant, she was of the opinion (at the time of her confirmation in 1993) that abortion rights were more an issue of equality than privacy, as in would a man accept all the ramifications of an undesired pregnancy, and if not why should a woman. She was never that comfortable with Roe v Wade and felt there were better cases to legislate on the issue of abortion.

I think the EU model (broadly) is far more solid from a legislative perspective than the US, supporting termination on request up to 15 weeks and after that date based on health considerations.

Wha?

She repeatedly refused to stand down under Obama and wanted to hold on until Hillary was in office.

How is it Hillary Clinton’s fault that Ginsburg didn’t stand down?

The Republicans held control of the senate in 2015 and 2016. They refused to allow Garland’s nomination to even go forward after Scalia died. That’s the seat now held by Gorsuch, which should be held by an Obama-appointed justice.

The reality is no Democratic-nominated justice will ever again be approved by a Republican controlled senate unless the Republican party undergoes a massive internal reckoning and weeds out the fascists, which shows no sign of happening. The opposite is happening, the few remaining non-fascists are being rooted out.

That’s gas, Dodgy Keeper would be proud of that sort of calisthenics

What i said was what happened. It was an act of defiance to what end exactly?

Was Obama only in office in 2015/2016?

It’s the furthest thing from a stretch, it’s the reality of what happened and started the chain of events for roe v Wade to be overturned
