US Politics II To Trump or not to Trump

The DOGE department doesnā€™t exist, a government department/agency can only be institutionalised thorough an act of Congress with set parameters to its power, functions, accountability and authority.

That said itā€™s Trump so he can probably do as he likes.

See what happen?

Heā€™ll deport all the illegals just like he built that big wall he promised

reagan fired all the air traffic controllers back in the 80s and banned them from federal jobs for life

All illegal migrants deported and efficiency brought into government departments and the civil service. And when I say efficiency I also mean accountability and the right to let go those who under preform and/or refuse to do what is asked of them.
Had lunch with my Mrsā€™ friend from the Taoiseach Department the other day. She was telling us that there is a clerical team member who when she works from home believes that she canā€™t be contacted by phone as she claims itā€™s an intrusion on her privacy. I mean what the fuck!!

Reagan won 49 out of 50 States in 1984.

Id say most people in Ireland would in theory so if it goes well there itā€™ll lead to a huge voting change here. If it goes badly will be a massive boost for the left.

Yes tear down the entire civil service on the basis of an anecdote you heard from a pal of your Mrs.

Gas if you it split Harris, trump and no vote then no vote wins.

Would this be common for all American elections?

This is just one recent example. Iā€™d say everyone on here would have at least one experience of inefficiency from the State in the last year.

Itā€™s probably common for most elections around the world. Certainly for Irish elections. Would have to be true for most British and Canadian elections too, would it not? Whenā€™s the last time the majority of all eligible voters voted for the person that won?

You could well be right but I just hadnā€™t looked at it that way.

And from the private sector? Ive yet to hear of someone fired from any job for anything bar the grossest of gross misconduct in either public or private sector

Id agree with that to a point and legislation mean itā€™s quite difficult to let someone go on performance grounds.

One advantage the private sector has though is how salary increases etc are managed. You might hold onto your job but you wonā€™t be getting automatic pay increases etc.

The way politics works now is right wing nut jobs get in and turn governments into a cesspit of incompetence, corruption and hateful stupidity and then the next opinion poll shows Right Wing Nut Jobs +5.

that may be credible for some offices or agencies but just not credible in taoiseachs, everyone is worked like a dog there

It happens all the time. Manage them up or manage them out. Thatā€™s my motto.

I can confirm that, yes.

An exceptionally lazy dog?
