9/11 was bad
If Romney had maintained the same percentage of the Hispanic vote as McCain he would have won.
Token didn’t get much of a look in there.
I wouldn’t see migration as a major issue. Rapidly diverging news sources is probably a bigger one. Most Americans tend to be concerned about the same issues, and much of the antagonism comes from the conspiracy touting tactics of right-wing talk radio and networks like fox. They have a never ending roll call of folk devils (liberal professors, welfare queens, illegal immigrants etc.) to blame for any imaginable issue.
While the tea party nuts are a fringe minority who are as disliked by most Republican voters as they are by Democrats, there is as I said already a significant rural-urban divide. This is a traditional voting schism and there is nothing especially novel or dramatic about it, it’s just that certain political actors gain from the notion that it is.
Your man Nate Silver has done a lot of research on these voting patterns, especially on the divided attitudes to race which is one of the classic ‘dividing lines’ in US society. Ultimately the difference he uncovers is that rural voters typically interact with far fewer people from a different (racial, geographical, or professional) background in their daily lives compared with similar voters in urban areas. Naturally, this makes them more closed minded in their attitudes to different lifestyles and attitudes, and far less used to perspectives informed by life experiences that are different to their own.
Such phenomena is well established in sociological and political science disciplines, but that reality isn’t especially useful to the Fox News type who want to present this fairly predictable and mundane divide as a sign of a deeper ideological struggle for the American dream.
Any sign of a declaration in Florida? I have 13/8 Obama waiting on it and he should have won
Florida declares for Obama.
Yeah Ladbrokes have paid out.
Lovely. About time
This bridge story about the New Jersey Governor (Chris Christie) is fairly sensational.
The fat lad is a potential Republican presidential nominee. For those unfamiliar with the story, his deputy chief of staff organised the closure of 4 lanes on George Washington Bridge to cause traffic disruption in a small town that had a Democratic Mayor. Resultant traffic delays were possibly responbsible for the death of an old lady whose ambulance was delayed in the traffic.
Emails were leaked the other day of his staff telling officials to do their best to cause traffic chaos.

Cracking story alright. Christie had built a solid reputation for cutting through the bullshit and leaving party politics aside. This story has made his cutting through bullshit attitude more like bullying though.
To add some flavor to the story above - the town concerned was Fort Lee, its mayor had refused to back Christie for reelection and this was his punishment.
I presume Obama is a proper choirboy after coming out of the Chicago set up with Rahm Emmanuel.
And that he knew nothing about it.
Which one is the guy who smokes crack?
Ford in Toronto, seems like he’s awfully good fun.
He made it clear that he only smokes crack when he’s drunk.

I’m going MAX BET on Hillary Clinton for the 2016 Presidential Election.
Go Hilldog.
It’s quite possible. The republicans are making themselves unelectable with the tea party weirdos. Hilary v Christie/Rubio I suppose.
