And yet it’s so obvious. This stuff is staring the liberal political powerbrokers in the west in the face and they’re totally paralysed.
This war does one major thing in US politics - it makes it harder for Trump to go again and rig the 2028 elections because events, dear boy, events.
Boris Johnson looked impregnable in 2021 and another Tory term in 2024 looked all but assured. And then, almost without warning, the whole show collapsed and people actually did turn on the Tories.
MAGA is splitting. The split is still in its early stages. But the anti-Semites are going to be in the ascendant.
What you’ll probably have in 2028 is the Democrats will put up Newsom or some other milquetoast candidate who is pro-Israel.
So you’ll have both the Republicans and the Democrats, and the people who would normally be expected to vote for each, split over Israel and this war.
Carlson will be an insurgent both in the Republican party and in the political system in general. Newsom or Democratic candidate X will be the establishment candidate pushing the stock slogans about Israel having a right to exist and a right to defend itself and being the only democracy in the Middle East and being a beacon and so much other bullshit. Newsom has imagined his campaign around Vance being his opponent. But Vance will be toast by then, destroyed, humiliated and spat out by Carlson.
And Carlson will easily dismantle this bullshit and humiliate Newsom or Democratic candidate X, and win the US presidency.
The Democratic base who rightly despise Israel will be far easier to get to switch their vote on this issue than evangelical or Republican voters who support Israel or the dumb as rock MAGAbots.
And Carlson winning will mean all the other sweeping Nazi insanity that goes with Carlson will win too.
Once in power, Carlson will do fuck all about Israel, but, he WILL legitimise hatred of Jews, and ramp up the white supremacist, anti-Europe, pro-Putin, anti-democracy, anti-women, anti-LBGT bullshit to 100.
That’s if Carlson is not shot by Israel first. And he might well be.
