Warren Gatland Appreciation Thread

Heā€™s taking over super rugby team chiefs in a few weeks time.

I thought he was retiring and doing the lions gig

A shadow of himself, heā€™d admit that himself

1997 through to 2001 were peak years for Woody. You havenā€™t a breeze.

Who is saying otherwise? You dont get picked for a Lions tour without being at the top of your game and Woodie played all three testsā€¦

1999 was Gattyā€™s annus horribilis - and given how much more inept Ireland displays in knockout games since then have been whitewashed, a four point loss to an under rated Argentina team doesnā€™t look so bad in hindsight

He has barely put a foot wrong as a coach in the last 20 years

Two solid decades of success and improving teams hugely, be it Ireland, Wasps, Wales, or the British Loins

In four World Cups, he has never lost a knockout game by more than four points

The fact the lions couldnā€™t beat New Zealand was shameful. Iā€™d have coached them to beat Australia. Heā€™s pretty much viewed as a failure by Welch fans. Only for Shaun Edwards heā€™s nothing. Possibly blessed too his attack coach bet on England and got himself removed.

I wonder has there ever been a coach of Wales who later went on to coach New Zealand, and if so, what their record is like?

Heā€™s was scrapped at that stage

You have @myboyblue blocked on rugby matters donā€™t you? Wise move for somebody like yourself who only wants to engage in insightful rugby discourse.
It was @myboyblue who was claiming that Keith Wood was fucked by 1999. Not a breeze.

Yeah, shameful

Yeah, you would

Yeah, he is

Alex Ferguson was nothing without Archie Knox/Brian Kidd/Steve McClaren/Carlos Queiroz/Rene Meulensteen/Mike Phelan

ireland were beaten by japan mate

jersey did better vs russia than we did

Thatā€™s his view. The Welsh are a very confident lot when it comes to rugby and their team.

Lads think ireland were a good team cos they had BOD and a crocked Keith Wood, no wonder irish rugby always has mental expectations
