Waterford Hurling (now incorporating intermediate football) 2013 and subsequent years

Cian Lynch was at it that night! His u21 Munster final performance against Tipp in 2016 was possibly the best of any underage player in recent memory. Post 2016 he was pinpointed as the way to stop Waterford and if you’ve a man willing to give up his whole game to stop you hurling out at wing forward it can be hard to get into the swing of things. McInerney didn’t puck a ball in the ‘17 All Ireland once he had Gleeson tied up. He didn’t have the luxury of a Shefflin or Hegharty where they had five other forwards who needed just as much attention and probably a gradual frustration lead to lack of effort. Robert Downey in Walsh Park 2022 just blatantly went out to have him sent off and succeeded. He should have been resigned as an attack minded wing back alas Kyle Hayes for at least one season when his form stagnated around 18/19. His body wouldn’t allow it now.

If Queally is so much for the experimental stuff he should put him in goal.
Austin won’t be able or fit enough for out field,

He rarely did . Kicked or hand passed everything

Hearing Patrick Fitz is out today and for possibly a while.

10/11 of that team are going to be starting come championship so the narrative of missing players shouldn’t come into reflection after the game.

One of the finest and best known hurling men in the county passed away suddenly last night. Jimo Keeffe from Ballygunner. RIP

A fairly lacklustre Waterford performance before waking up for the last 10 minutes. Dublin sending off the real turning point.

Is that their third red card?

There was a fellow from Kilmacud Crokes sitting beside me who said it was the fourth red card Dublin had got this year and that poor discipline was absolutely killing them.

I heard a snippet of the Waterford manager on the radio earlier. He’s gotten a touch of the Derek McGrath to him I feel. None of the oul’ standard guff - Lookit, I s’pose, winter pitches or any of that cliched shit…
No Siree, we were treat to nuggets such as predatorial instincts (Curran) and my favourite of the day - catalyst…… Sounded great like…

Don’t remember a red vs Antrim.

Conal O Riain vs Westmeath, Conor Burke vs Offaly, Cian O Sullivan vs Waterford.

Conor Donohoe did get a red in the BOICMC vs Tipp.

Colin Currie or Chris Crummy odds on for the next day.

It’s our third red in 4 league games. All of them justified and they have cost us dearly.

Maybe it’s just me but it’s a definite theme with Dublin teams, especially on the road that they feel they have to play on the border and generally it ends with reds.

Dublin would have won that game today with a full compliment. Waterford only properly came into it properly in the last 10 minutes with the extra man.

Yeah. I agree. Silly from cian o sullivan and he was having a great game.

Yes all the conors, cians, cillian. Just need to bring back Cormac Costello now.

Kilmacud brought down 5 bus loads of kids for matches against Ballygunner and Tramore this morning apparently.

I was told they had 15 buses in total. They had underage teams in Ferns, Ballyhale and a few other places in Wexford and South Kilkenny as well.

Super clubs take a lot of flak, much of it justified, but that’s a serious effort at games promotion.
