Waterford Hurling (now incorporating intermediate football) 2013 and subsequent years

But Ballygunnar beat Doon in last year’s championship Dan?

Slightly clumsily worded on my part. Ballygunner have beaten Limerick club champions in each of the last 4 campaigns, all 4 of those in Limerick as well. Ballygunner have also won their last 4 agsinat Na Piarsaigh, 3 in the last 4 years and the meeting before that as well which was the 2018 Munster Final.

Yes, Ballygunnar are an exceptional club team.

If you look at the ā€˜big 6’ Hurling Cups on offer, Senior Intercounty, U20 Intercounty, Minor Intercounty, Croke Cup, All Ireland Club and All Ireland Feile, Tipperary and Waterford currently hold all of them with a nice even split.

And they beat Kilmallock in a Munster final as well as the Well in 2019.

He’s an awful fucking ape.

With his media profile, Shane likely views himself as a custodian of the game. I suppose he was concerned about the direction of travel in Waterford. Thankfully the immediate situation isn’t as bad as he feared. Thankfully.

He addressed the mullocking situation in West Limerick last week as wellšŸ˜€, so it is equal opportunities with The Dow and nothing at all to with Ballygunner. We all want a strong Waterford…so we do. I suppose.

Hopefully he can put Mark Coleman to the sword now this week over his use of the hurley as well as calling out Cork’s antics.

It’s great for the hurling community that we finally have a pundit willing to take on Big GGA.

Waterford would still be reaching all-quarter finals minimum if it was the old system with qualifiers where they could play a few Leinster teams. They should be fine in a few years considering they won a minor All-Ireland last year and apparently have an equally strong group to come next year (2027).

The round robin blitz format doesn’t really suit Waterford. They have the smallest playing numbers, consequently panel depth is never too hectic even with a good crop of players. Once the injuries start to mount, they really seem to tail off. In 3 of last 4 years, won opening game and in 2023 they should have won opening game against Limerick. In those 4 campaigns, the only game they won after opening game was last game Tipperary in 2023, by which stage they were already eliminated and Tipperary had already advanced.

The round robin rubbish means that it will be Tipp, Cork, Limerick and Clare dominating it for ever with Waterford looking in from the outside

Will Kiely drop Dowling for this?

Nice performance from Waterford yesterday. They really needed that. Good to see them responding from the previous week. They are well capable of taking a scalp or 2 but depth in this system is crucial and they are stretched in that department. Halloran is a great find. Repositioning Bennett isnt a bad shout either. Given his injury history it might enable him to extend his intercounty career. Calum Lyons back gives them more options now too. Still think Mark Fitzgerald is better wing back. Apart from that they were full of running, great support play and won most of the ruck ball. They exposed Will O Donoghue at 6 and found loads of space those channels left and right of him.

You are a bit behind the news.
Not that Shane being not named on the panel pre Christmas was big news.

I meant as his hired gun in the media. Try keep up like a good fella

If Kiely is using Dowling to push an agenda - its time to move on from Kiely.

Halloran played in the league under Davy. He’s been floating around the panel a good while. I’ll be pleasantly surprised if he has what it takes come championship time

With a name like Reuben he’ll either be a superstar or a flop

Reuben is a ham.
