Waterford Hurling (now incorporating intermediate football) 2013 and subsequent years

Did they win?

Stephen Bennett got a hat trick of goals v Limerick minors in consecutive years iirc.

Derek preferred to have a runner up full forward to cover all three of the full back line.

Ballygunner dethroned as All Ireland Feile champions. Beaten by a point by Lismore.

Did Lismore win it out? St Pats beat Ballygunner last night aswell.

Who are St Pats?

St Pats are Colligan and Kilgobnet amalgmation.

Lismore won it out. That Lismore crop have won all the way up the grades.

Are Sliabh Gua & Modeligo (formerly Naomh BrĆd) all with St Pats now aswell?

Landers young lad meant to be a serious hurler.

Not sure about that but St Pats could well be an expanded amalgamation now. Likes of St Oliver’s and St Anne’s have expanded their amalgamations in recent years. Rural clubs in mid and west Waterford really struggling with numbers.

Rural clubs all across the country are struggling for numbers.

If that Lismore team isn’t referenced to as St Carthages presume there must not be one single lad from Ballysaggart at the age which would be crazy.

Mine is as rural as you’d find and we have a plethora of young lads coming in comparison to 10 years ago. I think it’s the right generation of lads who are veterans or recently retired that are driving the numbers amongst their own youngsters teams at underage.

We’re very much the same and it’s the heroes of two failed county finals that are the parents and coaching teams but we’re very much outliers.
The nearest rural clubs to us are all in serious bother and their futures look bleak. The Willies won 3 seniors in the last 12 years and their full back line last year totted up to about 116. Their school numbers are dropping like stones. The great Barry Prior will anchor the defence again at surely 45. It’s grim…

Must be a chance that Daly and Mark Fitz swap? Callum likely to be go to wing back you’d think. Wouldn’t be surprised if young Mackey starts either.

If I was Queally I’d of called up Conor Tobin aswell. I’d have him ahead of Kevin Mahony as an impact sub if I was chasing a game.

Very surprised if Shane Bennett keeps his place - he was woeful last weekend

Badly need Mark Fitzgerald in half back line. Tobin hardly an option when he cant start for Ballygunner?

Lot of musical chairs but just one chance to starting XV from last Sunday, Iarlaith Daly for Michael Kiely. A few lucky to be still starting. Probably through lack of alternatives as much as anything else.

Hes had a very good year .deserves a chance to make amends

Breen v Walsh
Ronan v Stephen Bennett
Doyle v Hutchinson

All decent match ups for Tipp I think

I’d expect the Tipp forward line to change. Most likely end up with:

Daly v Forde
Kenny v McCarthy
Aaron O’Neill v John McGrath

They might send Leavy out to belt away with Morris and free up Fitzgerald.

A low scoring dogfight awaits.

The golden age had parents who stuck together and produced together. I do envy th circumstance around football in Sligo.
