He drops the head way too easily. He got taken for a couple of early scores and he started traipsing around the field.
Dessie was tearing Doyle apart in the league before he uprooted him in the bollax.

Iād say both inside lines will trade off similar enough and the game will be won by who can get more scores from there middle eight. Both sides far from covered themselves in glory there last week and I make out Waterford only got 0-4 from play from that area of the field last week (0-3 from the bench). Would probably have to be double figures to win the weekend and Shane Bennett will probably keep his spot alone for his ability to score from distance especially in Walsh Park
Doyle was only back from a bad hamstring tear in fairness. Wouldnt have too much fear for him against the best forwards in the country.

Morgan was on Darragh Fitzgibbon. Certainly when most of damage was done. Hed 3 points from play off Morgan early doors.

From what Iāve seen of Morgan at intercounty level he has had more poor to middling games than good

Yeah I couldnt disagree with that. Certainly when the team is going bad or we are under pressure his deficiencies are glaring. I feel like the defense has to perform well as a unit or we have to be on top around the middle for him to go well. Its rare ive seen him perform to a high level when things are going bad save maybe the 1st rd last year vs Cork when we were down to 14. He showed well that day. I think his leadership skills and popularity in the group carry him a long way. The old adage versatility is a curse probably holds true for him too. He has played on most lines of the field at this stage.

That would be my thinking too. Doyle did well on him last year.
To be fair Dessie looks somewhat liberated this year without the captaincy and after capturing the elusive second All Ireland Club. Looked like someone who didnāt want to be there last year with Waterford.
I agree with @Whackersstud11 about the middle 8. Big issue for Tipp is Jake Morris doesnt look 100% fit and Ormondās form has gone completely. Our half backline dont really have the gears to saunter up the field and clip handy scores.
Willie Connors (another man not 100% fit) and Conor Stakelum can score but more likely to get 0-01 or 0-02 rather than 0-04 each.
In summary, I think this goes down to the wire and we could be in trouble. Waterford have a long history of playing well and making most of the running in games only to falter in the last 10 minutes when the finishing line comes in to view and the benches get emptied. They play a very punishing game on themselves with loads of running that can see them tie up after 55 minutes and mistakes creep in. Tipp are as lethal as there is at punishing mistakes when the situations arise. This is what Iām clinging to most this weekend as opposed to Tipp going down there and dominating from start to finish to be honest.

Could be similar to that drawn game down there in 2024. Mind you most of forward line that day arent starting this time around. Finishing that day you had Seanie Kenneally who scored that goal in injury time. Mark Kehoe who if memory serves supplied the asssist from first effort or did he lay it off to Morris. Cant remember but he was involved in goal to some extent. Then Gearoid O Connor who pointed with last puck of the game from a free won by Alan Tynan. Moments earlier Conor Bowe blazed wide too. A miss I thought would be costly. Some turnover in 2 years.
I know its only one change in personnel but the Waterford team looks a lot stronger to me if by playing Daly, they release Fitzgerald to 6 and Leavy to midfield.
If that was the case they would have a nice bit of legs from 4-9 in particular which might mean Tipp keep Ormond in the starting 15 to cover a bit of ground.
O Rourke is a big addition to waterford management team. He did a fine job with Cork.

The bench crucially looks a lot stronger this week aswell. If Waterford could get to the last fifteen in front itās a fair trump card to bring on a fresh TDB to try see it out.
Stephen Bennett must be Waterfordās greatest ever warrior.
Mikey Breen might need some specialist training with Buggy OāMeara after the second half spin he had this afternoon.
Waterford have it all to do, but just about in it still.

Not often a team is disappointed after scoring a last minute equalising goal
45% on shots from play. 18 from 40 attempts.
A serious achievement but very much deserved for someone on a team that didnāt win either of their games played.
Not to mention his hip problems.
