What leinster teams would beat Munster teams in championship do you think?
That Mark Fitzgerald brainfart looks even worse on the Sunday Game than it did in real time in Limerick today. Fair enough, heâs playing out of position but heâs had a very poor campaign for a hurler of his calibre and has made a lot of elementary mistakes that not even a makeshift full back should be making. Maybe the burden of captaincy is weighing him down a bit too.

For the growth of hurling as a whole. Totally unfair system at the moment in my opinion.
Tipp won an All-Ireland with a mishmash of a team. With the plethora of talent that theyâre producing at minor and U20 level theyâll win plenty of senior titles in the coming years. Maybe some of them in succession even.
Will they though? When an aeging Loughmore team are cruising to Tipp championshipâs iâd question the standard of hurlers in Tipp.

They are system players.
The best Limerick players came up playing hit and whip. Same for Clare and Cork. Iâve a feeling they are a touch overrated.

I think personal circumstances will come into it too. Most of the Waterford old guard arenât yet fully in the âwife/kids/dog/houseâ era just yet so there should be another year in most of them.
What would be a disaster is if Lyons and a couple more went travelling again.
The players are clearly playing for Queally so i think him staying on would be fine and give Ducky another year to bed in his ideas. Canât be easy though when about 7 of your top 18 players arenât available for most of preseason due to Club Championship and another 4 or 5 are seriously injury prone and need to be minded.

The 2015 and 2017 U21 winning teams played open hurling before Kinnerk refined them into the machines they became. The chipp underage teams played the tactical game before proving anything. 8 years of dominance and this is all they have to show for it?

A far more sensible take.
I would have the hurling season â as said here before â as two groups of five. Eight ties, home and away. Then knockout based on placings. Start in late March and fimish in late July.
There would be coherence â and transparent fairness.

I donât think itâs unfair and I donât think it would grow the game much either. Munster draws massive attendance and if Leinster can keep Offaly getting stronger that improves the attractiveness of the province. Cork v Wexford, Clare v Offaly, who would really care about those matches?
