Lismore definitely have a chance but Ballygunner have a brilliant team and are bringing lads through all the time to fight for places.
Passage werenât expected to be anywhere this year and have a young team. For them to be in the semifinal is fantastic for them. They are supposed to have decent minors coming through.
The numbers Ballygunner have are staggering. DLS missed a serious trick a few years back when they moved out to Gracedieu, nor setting up close to the school in Newtown. Out in Gracedieu, theyâre picking from more or less the same pool as Roanmore, Mount Sion and Erinâs Own. Ballygunner have all the far side of town where most of the population growth has been, to themselves.
Ballygunner are far more organised than the Waterford county set up.

Must be loads of good hurlers who canât get a look in with ballygunner? Must cause a bit of resentment.

DLS also get players who come through St Declanâs and Stephens street as well as the secondary college.
They too have large numbers underage but nowhere near the Ballygunner numbers.
I wouldnât be close enough to know but youâd imagine it would at underage level.
Never seem to be too much rumblings at senior as they are always there or there abouts. They bring so many players through that you are soon forgotten about anyway.
Ballygunner wonât be short of players.
