Wayne & Coleen Rooney

always liked him but rooney going up in my estimation if he forces a move here

correctly he wants to win more trophies and he wants to earn more money, at this moment in time he has obviously sees that he can influence both of these by moving at this stage of his career
contrast that with that spinelss cunt gerrard who i assume also wanted both trophies and more money but was fooled into staying in a dead duck of a club because of some faux emotional reason
essentially he chose to become a ‘legend’ to a mob of scummy football fans at the expense of personal achievement and im sure he regrets it every day

Seems Gill and Ferguson are meeting with the Glazers tomorrow to as Fergie put it " to put the matter to bed"

Fergie is winning the battle of the spin hands down so far…

The tear in his eye pushed him over the top I feel.

Perth Glory striker Robbie Fowler claims Wayne Rooney is considering a move to the A-League.

Former England international Fowler claims he has chatted with his fellow Liverpudlian, who has confirmed this week he will not be signing a new deal at Manchester United, and with tongue in cheek hinted Rooney would consider a move to Western Australia.

He said on the Glory’s official website: "Everyone knows I went home (and) it’s probably only just come out lately about Wayne Rooney, but being in the football know, I found out a couple of weeks ago (that he wanted to leave Manchester United).

"I just had to come home and see if he’d be interested in coming to Perth.

"The signs were good. I was really pleased with the chat we had and we’ll see where it takes us.

"I sold it to him and told him what a lovely place it is.

"I told him what I think about the city and he knows obviously all about a lot of the players.

"He’s umming and ahhing at the minute, but it’s looking good.

“He’s very, very interested so watch this space.”

Perth’s deputy chairman Lui Giuliani said the idea was not as laughable as some may think.

“Well if and it’s a big ‘If’, Wayne Rooney was out of contract, and Robbie Fowler could pull some strings we would love to have him at Perth Glory even as a guest,” he said.

“If I said four years ago that Robbie Fowler would be playing for Perth Glory, I’m sure many people would have had a laugh.”

Manchester United released the following statement after a day of meetings between chief executive David Gill, Sir Alex Ferguson and representatives of Wayne Rooney:

“We are aware that there is intense public and media interest on the club at the moment, but there are no developments of note to report today.

“I can confirm a number of meetings have taken place today, including with the player’s representative. The outcome of those meetings will become clear in the near future. In the meantime, fans are asked to be patient.”

Thats put the matter to bed.

Didn’t Ferguson just repeat what Brian Clough said in a sort of Newsroundy way.

“My advice to Roy Keane is to ignore the thought that the grass is greener elsewhere because he might find the cows have crapped on it.” - On talk of Keane leaving Manchester United.

Interesting stat for the lads who don’t rate Rooney being peddled by Ken Earley on Newstalk the last few days. Apparently Rooney is the top goalscorer in the Premier League since he joined United. Drogba joined the same time and Rooney has more goals than even him over that period. Impressive enough really given the impression would be he’s injured a fair bit and only scores in spurts. Also he was only 18 when he joined so it’s hardly been what would generally be the peak years of a player’s career.

Don’t mind Bandage, he says he doesn’t watch the EPL.

Bandage is a regular watched of EPL, he’s said it here on many occasions.

Wouldn’t doubt that statistic, lads seem to forget that Drogba didn’t exactly hit the ground running at Chelsea and wasn’t the most prolific in his first couple of seasons…He also had a couple of seasons where he constantly struggled with injury, the year Mourinho left and the year after…

Can’t remember Rooney having too many injury problems apart from the tail end of last season and before the 2006 WC…

Out of interest how many more goals has he, presume he has played more games…

I cringed watching Holloway there. He came across as a bit of a leper. I’m surprised by that Rooney stat. Has it been verified? Still, he’s striker for the team that’s been up at the top of the league over that timeframe and some of the alternative attacking talent would have joined their clubs later than he joined Manchester United, e.g. Torres, and others have since left the EPL, e.g. Ronaldo. That said, it’s more impressive than I would have given him credit for anyway, especially given he played right back the season they won the Champions League.

Rooney would play the vast majority of games for united and his goalscoring was always solid enough wuthout being spectacular…Would have gotten into double figures season after season I would say, think last year was actually broke 20 though

I would also hazard a guess that Robbie Keane’s record in the EPL from 2004 to present date wouldn’t be disgraced compared to Rooneys…There was a point there about 2 yeras ago when he was the most prolific scorer in the league over a period of a three years

Scum rag fans

Cheshire Police called to clear a ‘bit of bother’ outside Wayne Rooneys house tonight

Had a look there on wiki and looks like since 04/05 Rooney has 92 in 193, Drogba has 90 in 173, Keane looks to have around 70, albeit in less games.
Not bad from Keane in fairness but it is an interesting one on Rooney alright especially given he hasn’t always played up front as Bandage says. I’m not saying any of this in a spirt of bullshit KIB self- either. I’m genuinely surprised by that stat too.
I definitely think some English players and (whisper it) even the league itself actually get underrated a bit in Ireland as a backlash against the unrelenting hype. The likes of Lampard has a ridiculously good record too. No point in saying Premier League is shite either it’s easily one of the top three leagues in the entire world. Possibly for a few years there it was even better.

Any idea what Lampard’s goalscoring stats are over the same period, gola? He must have got near 20 goals from midfield in a couple of those seasons.

Lampard has 85 in 208 games over the same period. Superb record for a midfielder alright. I think he’s very good in his role, just not sure it suits every system which has hampered him a bit particularly for England.

Lampard also has 70 assists in that period which is some going.

As a comparison Rooney has 23 assists with United - Drogba’s assists stats aren’t on Wiki but I imagine they are impressive enough.

I heard Ken Early mentioning the Rooney figures the other night and was surprised alright. I wouldn’t have thought he had more than Drogba but I do think it masks his form which has been erratic at best.

Ronadlo by the way had 80 goals and 36 assists in 167 appearances in his time in the team with Rooney. Very impressive.

Rooney has just signed a new 5 year deal with MUFC.

Is he again the greatest player in the world in United fans eyes?
