Wearing of facemasks. Yay, or Nay?

Some men were made to follow, others were made to lead …But it’s ok to be a follower, you’re in grand company.

I’m not the one posting up loads of articles at all mate, and rubbishing all the contrary ones.

I wear a mask to put people at ease and safe in the knowledge that it’s doing no harm

Should it be mandatory to make other people feel at ease?

I’m wearing a mask right now only because I have to

That’s fine pal … I already said if it makes you feel safe fire ahead - just as long as lads know it’s not actually doing anything then everyone knows where they stand … One of the guys deciding Irish policy, Cillian De Gascun, is one of the people saying that cloth and non medical grade masks arent worth a wank by the way -

Placebos are great tbf, leave them off wearing masks. I’m not happy about it myself but I’m not arguing my point of view on the matter with someone on minimum wage when I’m getting bread and milk

That’s what it seems to boil down to — from the off the Gov have adjusted their position going off social media - the screaming about masks is the latest so people now have to wear them to appease the screaming Marys … Give us the medical grade stuff if you want us to wear masks - not pretending to be taking measures ffs.

Do you think coughing and spluttering into your sleeve is a waste of time?

A mask, worn properly, limits droplet spread. That’s a fact. Beyond that nobody knows what it does.

It is important not to construe an absence of evidence for effectiveness with evidence for the absence of effectiveness.

That seems to be a case of good manners mate, why would I want to make somebody feel uneasy over something as inconsequential as wearing a mask for a half an hour while I’m in the supermarket??

It doesn’t make me feel safe @Thomas_Brady, I’m not the kind to worry about things like that, I’d take my chances

Despite a number experts disputing the effectiveness of non medical grade masks, including De Gascun, you’re still talking about ‘facts’ -

Lets call a spade a spade here, mate … It’s a facade - the gov knew from the off they cant supply the population with medical grade masks - that’s why they weren’t brought in. The rest is just optics.

Masks worn properly limit droplet spread. A surgical mask will limit it more than a snood.

I have no idea if Limiting droplet spread Limits Covid 19.

@The_Most_Infamous asked a valid question tho - should we be coerced into making others feel good?

What’s your position on people who spit?

An emotional reaction that it’s disgusting or a reasoned one that it is unlikely to spread disease?

I dont see what that has to do with anything bar moving goal posts to try score a point.

I could die from breathing back in the CO2 being captured by the mask

Its hardly good for people breathing in your their own Co2 wearing these cloth masks.

Particularly those with respitory illnesses like asthma etc.

People should have a choice in a free society, do we want to follow China blindly? Even the cashless piece, is it proven cash transmits this thing?

I have no problem wearing masks — just give me proper quality and approved goods if that’s what is being advised -

I’d agree with that.

Waters is a great bit of stuff. I wonder does he post here.

Well thats the other side of it, they don’t have enough of the medical grade masks for the public.

Those cloth masks are a cod.

They need that for medical stuff rather than making Brenda and Nuala feel secure to go to the same shop they have went to throughout the height of the virus
