Thats my point mate, other counties cant hope to compete with Dublin now that they are organised and have harnessed their natural advantages. Maybe if the GAA changed their funding structures, but thats a pipedream given the way theyâve worked to ringfence such matters.
Mayo and Kerry are but 2 counties, thereâs another 31 out there who for the most part cant keep it kicked out to Dublin and wont be getting close anytime soon. And Mayo arent the right side of the age profile. Its a credit to them that theyâve hung in there this long. The numbers they have in Dublin is incredible, the organisation and dedication it must takes for them to commit to the intercounty game from a logistics point of view in comparison to a Dublin footballer is astonishing.
Nonetheless, I come to praise Dublin, not bury them, their organisation is a credit to them, albeit funded handsomely by the GAA, and assisted greatly by all the natural advantages they possess which weâve gone over already.
You often hear of Dublin getting into trouble scheduling club games. The club championship is often run off midweek under light at the end of October in a blitz style format.
Pat is some bag of wind. As @Fagan_ODowd said both the Dublin Hurling and football championships have been a shambles since the county football team started reaching all Irelands. Teams could win a semi final on a Wednesday and have to play a final on a Sunday.
This year has been brilliant in comparison. 2 weeks between rounds and games played on hard pitches. Fair play to the GAA for putting clubs first and fuck Pat and his scutter talk.
Great piece from the greatest gaelic footballer of all time. Lets get the All Irelandâs back to their proper dates in September. County championships are even further behind than they usually are this year.
So itâs only successful counties that clubs will have to do without in? Where would kyledimo be in that scenario?
You are punishing clubs for bringing through players. Thatâs just plain dumb
Itâs a fact of life. Look at Leinster they donât get their internationals for the vast majority of the season. Either go back to straight knock out at senior intercounty level or else club play away without their counties players. Holding up the whole season for one or two lads is mental.
Thatâs it in a nutshell. Theyâve created all these pointless extra matches in both hurling and football championships and in hurling have effectively decided to play two league championships in the space fo 7 months. Something has to give. If theyâre putting all those demands on inter-county players, the club game is not sustainable. Itâll have to go to the same way as the AIL in rugby.
Limerick and Clare both player played three games in four weeks and after that group phase they effectively met in a munster semi final. It was a complete waste of time.
Galway and Kilkenny played each other three times in their first six matches and all that was before the quarter final stage was even reached. Bizarre.
if one of them was good enough to beat the other in the leinster final it wouldnât have arose
same could happened under the old system, they could have drawn in leinster or the all Ireland series meaning 3 games in the championship, okay granted not before the QF
