Excellent stuff
The Wexford GAA twitter feed said that we struggled to win primary possession upfront all game. As I mentioned the other night, that forward line looked a bit short of the requisite standard with all the players missing. I forgot to mention PJ Nolan’s injury - he was out today along with Lyng, Quigley, Guiney and McGovern with Jacob only coming off the bench. I think we’ll have to plan without McGovern for the year and the reports during the week had Lyng out for the league but we could do getting a couple of the others back before the Offaly game in 2 weeks time.
All that said, Wexford reign supreme at the top of Division 1B after the opening round of fixtures.
Really? He looks shite whenever I see him play.
Great report on last nights game bandage. Tip of the cap to you.
Did the Wexford team get off the bus outside Bunclody and walk across the border into Carlow?
No, if you did that in Bunclody you’d risk some knacker robbing the bus and selling it off as scrap metal.
Guys, can we organise a rota to cover the upcoming league matches in both codes and to ensure we have a reporter at all Wexford match venues? There will be a couple of clashes over coming weeks - the first one on Sunday March 10th when the hurlers are away to Offaly and the footballers are away to Louth - so preparation will be key. The next fixture is this Sunday in Wexford Park at 2pm against Derry in NFL Division 2. I’m considering going to this one.
I will hopefully be at the game v. Galway in Pearse Stadium at the end of the month,
possibly Mar 10th in louth for football
I’ll more than likely be in at the Derry game Bandage. Away games dont suit me at the moment, so you can save yourself the trip down the N11 if you want.

Looks like I’ll be in Wexford this weekend anyway so perhaps we can swap notes after the game, Gman. The team was announced last night and it’s the same 15 that featured last Saturday night, albeit with a few number changes. We’ll have played 5 weekends in succession by the end of this stretch - Armagh (a) last weekend and Derry (h) this Sunday followed by Louth (a), Westmeath (h) and Galway (a) - so that should test our squad depth. That’s actually an area where I feel we may be lacking a bit so it’ll be interesting to see how we cope with the workload.
Am I right in assuming that 1 more win will virtually assure us of our place in Div 2 next season?
Don’t think so, Mac. I think it’s possible to be relegated with 6 points and I think that may have happened in the last year or two (possibly to Meath?).
So wins against the shite teams like Louth and Galway becomes more important then.
I was impressed with Louth last Saturday and I wouldn’t fancy playing them in Drogheda in the championship in the summer. That said, Laois in Portlaoise doesn’t strike me as an easier alternative. We were easily beaten in the league in Drogheda two years ago too and they have a spread of good players in all sectors in my opinion so it will be a tough game away to them on the 10th March. I think they’re similar to ourselves actually - 8 or 9 decent players all over the pitch but carrying a few and lacking strength in depth. Galway are a strange one - they still look as flaky as a flaky bit of snow - but they’re the type of streaky team that could get a run on you at home and win impressively and they do have plenty of talent in their ranks. Not saying we’ll be incapable of taking points from either/both of them away from home but we’re usually fairly strong ourselves at home (Wexford Park is a difficult place to go to after all - I read it in the papers) and we should fancy our chances against Derry, Westmeath and Laois.
