Home.
We’ll go top in the football tomorrow if we beat Derry in Fortress Wexford Park.
Division is wide open.
Wide open alright, but also at the bottom too. Longford are fucked, but pretty much any other side could go down too. Win today tho will push on for promotion and keep us that bit safer too.
Can’t see us winning this one. Look really out of sorts and they with all the possession. 3-0 down after ten mins.
Derry denied a clear point. Shot was clearly a foot inside post but waved wide. Red missed an easy chance there
Payback for round 2 for the cunts so.
Somehow we’re only a point down. Awful game, 5-4 after half an hour. Free to them, wide
8-6 down at half time and we’ve been very poor. They’ve missed a load of chances - at least 3 frees and cracked a goal chance off the post - but we somehow got it back to 6-6 before conceding a couple of sloppy injury time points. Daithi Waters dragged us back into the game but our display’s been riddled with errors. That said, the game is there to be won.
Waters and Byrne supporting him to a lesser extent keeping us in it. They kicked a lot of wides, hit the post and wrongly had a point waved wide. It’s there to be won, but we won’t win if we play as bad again this half.
10-7. Still playing shit, they’re still kicking wides. 11 now.
14-7 now. Haven’t seen such a lackluster performance in a long time. Lazy and very little work rate. Our better players on paper have been awful today. Quinlivan with a point now.
Furlong made a great run thru middle but weak shot trickled past post, then wadding with another good run, and his saved shot hops off Roche onto the crossbar. Maybe he had a chance to control the rebound better to tap into empty net. 16-8 now. 8 mins left
who was marking Gerard O’kane Gman?
only lsitenign to it on the radio, buit it seems our old failing of not tracking the man has expesed us again and again, so hard to listen to spratt…any idea what the decent wing backs name is charlie kilth, charlie kielth, charlie celt, charlie Kileth…
Thats a fair beating to ship at home.
Paper suits a totally different type of player Gman. It’s a completely different surface.
19-10. Rubbish game. If Derry scored half their wides it would have been double that
Wexford predictably on the road to nowhere without Jason Ryan. Derry on the other hand are on the up under Brian McIver.
That was dire. Waters played very well and Byrne and Wadding were decent enough. That’s about it. Alarming lack of intensity and a questionable workrate combined with bad decision making and poor execution. We were fortunate not concede 1-27 or something. The two missed goal chances at 14-8 might have made things interesting but they were very comfortable winners in truth.
An awful game, you’d never have guessed from the above comments. We started really lethargically, and it was one of those games you could see from the first minute how it would go. for whatever reason, we seemed content to let them have the ball, and not apply any pressure. Instead of going man for man, we had lads defending space around them, and not actually picking anyone up. Not sure of the Derry team count, didnt get a program, but presume O Kane was their No2? Brosnan was on him, and did what he did against Longford, would run back, as if working, but ran back picking up no one. Their centre forward did a serious amount of damage too, and chin stood off him far too much.
There was very little positives to take out of it, bar Waters competing very well and carrying us basically, and Paddy Byrne did well too. But the players we come to expect a high level of performances from just didnt show up today. Red has been immense the last few games, but he was shocking today. Some awful passes and options taken, which is very unlike him, so hopefully we wont see much of that again. He wasnt the only one though giving away cheap ball, some of the hand and foot passes were terrible. PJ got very little service, and that he did get, he lost as much as he won by taking the man on and losing it in the tackle. Roche was anonymous most of the game, but did a few good things. The other thing too today, we were blocked down shooting about 5 times, and all of the shots were poor choices, almost a shot over the shoulder and made it easy to block, when passes were on.
The work ethic and intensity that the footballers are usually known for was far far from it today unfortunately. We didnt pressure them at all around the middle, and let them attack us, and invariably they found a man on an overlap and caught us far too easy.
