Wexford GAA 2014

True but he probably offers more to the county team in goal than he does playing outfield.

Jimmy Barry-Murphy and his selectors have made four changes for Sunday’s crunch tie against Wexford. Anthony Nash returns to the number one position, while Shane O’Neill, who was on study leave last weekend, comes in at corner back in place of Eoin Keane. Lorcán McLoughlin drops to wing back, with Daniel Kearney moving to mid-field and Aidan Walsh coming in at wing forward. Brian Hartnett is replaced at corner forward by Stephen Moylan.

Eoin Cadogan, Colm Spillane and Mark Ellis were not considered due to injury, while William Egan has college commitments. Conor O’Sullivan and Luke O’Farrell continue their recovery from long-term injury.

It’s all too clear that you’re but familiar with the phrase ‘boxing clever’
Fanning;
Rossiter, O’Hanlon, B Kenny;
Ryan, Chin, C Kenny;
O’Keeffe, Kehoe;
Tomkins, McDonald, Byrne;
Jacob, Guiney, McGovern.

McDonald and Guiney for Devereux and Gary Moore. Chin is selected despite sustaining the hip injury last week. PJ Nolan and Podge Doran are named in the substitutes for the first time in the league following their return from injury.
Anyone going to the game in Cork tomorrow? Just looking at the team again, it’s pretty much our best available combination from 8-15 (though you could make a case to include Paul Morris in the forwards). I’d expect McDonald to play in the full forward line with McGovern and maybe Guiney spending time in the half forward line.

I hope Chin is actually fit to start as his injury last week looked worrying enough at the time. We need to cut out the concession of frees in defence as Horgan will definitely punish us. Big test for young Liam Ryan too. A decent side is emerging (and it’ll be better when Eoin Moore is fit enough to start and our other injured players return) but we need to beat a team from that level above us now. That said, the Cork lineup looks fairly decent.

I’ll be there @Bandage. No commentary though.

I look forward to your match report, pal.

Hon Wexford!

Bobby Kenny sent off on a straight red again today for a wild pull. Any reports on the game?

Bobby Kenny seems like an awful dirty hoore.

Is that the same player who pulled across podge Collins last year?

I believe so.

He’s a tramp

Is he Pat’s son?

Lads, are you nearly ready with the match reports from today?

where the fuck is @gaamad1996 ?

I had a brief conversation with a source close to the panel but it was very unsatisfactory.

My Wexford connections inform me that some goalkeeping errors were largely responsible for defeat today.

My snippets of information came from Bandage Senior and @stevie G:

 • Devereux and Morris started in place of C Kenny (injured) and Byrne (family bereavement);
 • Morris and O’Keeffe were particularly good for Wexford;
 • We’re now as fit and physically strong as the main contenders;
 • Played some smashing stuff again with great support play;
 • Let down by poor shooting and some sloppiness (at times);
 • We need to stop winding on opponents’ heads;
 • We (Devereux) couldn’t handle Harnedy;
 • First Cork goal was a Horgan free after Fanning dropped a ball, recovered but was then penalised for overcarrying;
 • Second was a scramble where they forced the ball over the line after Fanning had again dropped the ball;
 • Fanning’s actually been very solid in the league otherwise;

Lads, what’s with the delay? Don’t have me wait until The Wexford People is available tomorrow morning.

Did Liam McGovern get injured yesterday? I see he scored two points in the first half but was withdrawn at half time.

We obviously struggled to contain Cork’s attack but it’s in the defensive sector where injuries are affecting us mostly.

Eoin Moore should come on for playing the second half yesterday and Andrew Shore’s ankle injury isn’t meant to be as bad as was initially feared. Ciaran Kenny has struggled to get an injury free run of games too.

Our half back line is still fairly unsettled and that’s a key area in hurling.

I think its plain to see nobody went to the game Bandage

@stevie G and @gaamad1996 were definitely at the game.

I had a lovely afternoon in Dublin Zoo myself.
