Wexford GAA 2014

When is that game against Longford on?

If we can defeat the round robin series winners then we’ll have the honour of facing Dublin in the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship in Wexford Park exclusively live on Sky Sports.

This Sunday in fortress Wexford Park at 3. Division 4 staring us in the face. considering the absolute apathy shown in a similar situation when playing Laois last year at the same venue, I’m not overly confident of this one.

Wexford footballers will preserve their Division 3 status. They lead Longford by 1-15 to 0-10 after 67 minutes. Anybody on match report duty?

2 goals conceded in injury time.

Full Time: Wexford 1-15 Longford 2-10.

Always do it the hard way, status preserved.

Longford deserve to be in div 4 absolutely woeful. Daithi, mick furlong and lyng were excellent. We have a lot of work to do. That was near enough our championship team bar cillian kehoe i would imagine. He’s surely not in the top ten midfielders at club level in the county?

He’s a donkey, tries hard, no mobility. The next best footballing midfielder we have is playing full back for the hurlers.

No skill either absolutely brutal. Yes matt o hanlon is a class footballer.

You preaching to the congregation.

Championship begins in two weeks lads…Hon Da James’

Clare and Wexford are playing each other in Rathdowney next Sunday.

A 6pm throw-in. Before that we’re playing Waterford in Hollymount on Thursday evening at 6.45pm.

Our minor hurlers open their Leinster campaign against Dublin at 3pm in Piercestown. Playing a championship game in St Martin’s pitch.

Waterford defeated us by something like 3-21 to 2-21 or 3-22 to 2-20 or something. We had around 10 of the probable championship starting team playing.

Okay I’ve been in touch with my contact who was in attendance at Hollymount last night (@twiceasnice97).

Confirmed final score: Waterford 3-20 Wexford 2-21.

Richie Kehoe played wing back and Emmett Kent came on.

Goals scored by Kevin Foley and Jack Guiney.

Neither David Redmond or Garrett Sinnott featured and they must be doubtful for the championship opener if they aren’t involved by the end of April.

The full back line (Ryan, Rossiter, B Kenny) were in trouble.

Last year’s minor centre back Conor Devitt scored 4 points from play when he was brought on.

Having Richie Kehoe back is a big blow for Wexford.

What way does the minor championship work this year? Is it straight knock-out or do losers get another opportunity like in recent years? It’ll be interesting to see how Wexford perform today having changed manager early in the year and with the focus having been on players training with their schools until February.

Anyone going to the game?

7-3 to Dublin, who have the wind in the second half.
