Tomorrowâs game in Laois is a very tricky assignment even without the added pressure of promotion. Unless theyâve gone back to doing backs and forward in training theyâve under performed somewhat this year and will see the game tomorrow as being very winnable. And theyâve already beaten us in the Walsh Cup.

God I hope we donât blow thisâŚ[/QUOTE]

Hoping that our defence is tighter today as weâre conceding way too many goals. It looks quite a strong 1-9 today if we play as selected with Shore back in the half back line and Chin released to midfield. Our half forward line is quite experimental with OâKeeffe, Waters and Byrne and Guiney and Morris will be missed so Iâm keen to see if we can win enough possession in that area. But, like last week, it wouldnât surprise me if we make a few pre-match changes. Harry Kehoe is listed in an unfamiliar corner forward position and he played the Fitzgibbon Cup final replay in midweek. Laois put 4 goals past us in the Walsh Cup in January but Iâm not sure how theyâre playing lately.
Limerick result means fuck all if we donât beat Laois today. I hope we can it would mean the Waterford match is winner takes all.
Best of luck to Wexford in their push for promotion. I donât think 1a suits counties like Limerick and Wexford but good luck to you nonethelessâŚ
FORGET IT
Looks like Conroy and Doran will be starting in place of the Waters brothers (not related).
Great toss to win on this wicket. OâHanlon wins it and Wexford will play against the stiffish breeze in the first half. Those changes have been confirmed by the PA chap, who also said Andrew OâConnor will be a sub for Wexford. I donât believe such a player exists.
HT Wexford 1-11 Laois 0-13.
Great early goal from McGovern. Shore, who started midfield, caught a Breen puck out, handpassed to overlapping Foley whose head high delivery was caught by McGovern on the run and he rifled it past the keeper.
Weâve played well enough but mixed in some trademark sloppiness. Laois have knocked over some very good points from distance and out wide. A couple of lucky enough breaks where a lad has been blocked down and the ballâs bounced back up for him to point.
Podge Doran missed a great goal chance when we were already 1-5 to 0-4 up and they responded with 3 points on the bounce. Itâs been tit for tat since.
We made a balls of playing with the breeze in the second half last week so letâs see how this pans out.
Ian Byrne has been good. 0-7, including 0-2 from play and 100% placed ball record.
Chin, OâKeeffe, Kehoe and McDonald complete our scorers.
Are we as bad on the puck outs as the WexfordGAA Twitter makes out?
Ah lovely.
Now hopefully the footballers can do something with the wind and an extra manâŚ
Conceding 24 points isnât too positive
FT Wexford 5-22 Laois 0-25. Iâll post more after the game in Hampden.
Negator
Wexford scorers: Ian Byrne 0-15 (0-11F, 0-1 65), Conor McDonald 2-2, David Redmond 1-1, Liam McGovern 1-0, Podge Doran 1-0, Harry Kehoe, Diarmuid OâKeeffe, Lee Chin, Liam Ryan 0-1 each.
Ian Byrne was superbly accurate. Didnât miss one placed ball and hurled very well generally.
McGovern was excellent again. Scored 1 goal and had a hand in another 3. Was really dangerous any time the ball went near him. Great movement and really fast.
McDonald scored 2-2 but thereâs plenty more to come from him. He was a little rusty to start but won more ball when moved out to the half forward line. One goal was a speculative long range effort and the other was put on a plate for him by McGovern after Kevin Foley dispossessed a defender.
We didnât give up a single goal chance, which was positive. But we gave them too much space to pick off points from distance. It was hard to figure out what was going on here. We were dropping back zonally for their puck outs but their keeper was able to thread the ball to targets.
Shore was very good on his return. Started midfield but switched with Chin during first half. Not sure what prompted change as both had started well enough but each had very good games. Redmond flittered in and out of the game but ended up with 1-1.
Full back line was fairly good. Ryan and OâHanlon were dominant and Conroy was pretty solid. Paudie Foley is a fine prospect. Gave up a few scores to Willie Hyland but hurled plenty of ball himself and distributes it very well.
Niall Breen didnât have to make any dramatic interventions but swept up a bit of ball coming into him. Deserves another chance in goal. Nice to see Aidan Nolan come back into the reckoning too and Devitt also got some minutes.
A pretty positive display and we play a good brand of hurling with a lot of fast, dynamic players. We create a lot of goal chances with our support play and quick interchanges - Ian Byrneâs free tally suggests they had to resort to quite a lot of fouling.
Our panel is also getting stronger with CiarĂĄn Kenny, Mossy Waters, Paul Morris and Jack Guiney to come back in. Itâs probably the 3 or 4 starters from today that I didnât mention whose places may be under threat next week.
Thanks for the report @Bandage, the bandwagon is kicking into gear early this year.
Weâre on to Waterford.
Youâre hardly gonna believe us. Youâre hardly gonna believe us. Youâre hardly gonna believe us. Weâre gonna win the league. Weâre gonna win the league. Weâre gonna win the league.
Weâll have to wait until at least 2017 to find out how it will suit Limerick.
Could Wexford move next Sundayâs game to Nowlan Park? Waterford always roll over and allow us to tickle them in Kilkenny. Not sure how weâll get on against them in Wexford Park.
If we top 1B do we get straight into a league semi-final?
