Theyâve been knocked out. Fuck sake.
that is awful, but typical. to go out and play like they did against Kilkenny, and then do that against Westmeath.
The minor football are out against Dublin next week too. there might be no excuses for the fixture makers this summer in Wexford with regards to county minors if that one doesnt go well.
Whatever mentalist had control of Wexford GAA twitter account today congratulated both teams for a great display of hurling.
As crazy as it seems, youâll probably get people saying that we shouldnât have played those rounds of senior club championship games over the past few weekends. The whole club calendar should be suspended to give the inter county minor teams ample preparation time. Run the senior club championship off in a blitz format over one weekend in November.

I saw that alright. Got a few negative responses in return.
I canât see how the adult club really has much impact on the ability of players to be training or gearing up for minor county. weâre not unique in Wexford to have concurrent championships with club and county, but certainly talk like we are.

+1.
Is this a bigger disaster than losing to Antrim that time?
Losers
Is Liam Griffin involved with this team? I think this guys has way too much power heâs still pulling the strings in the senior set up. His time has gone lads.
As I was saying earlier, I was disappointed with Wexfordâs hurling today. We didnât play the conditions well in the first half.
Do we actually simulate these things in training? Develop a formation/system to play against a strong wind etc? All Ireland senior winning manager Davy Fitzgerald has 6 or 7 different systems with his Clare team.
The wind was so strong that the ball needed to be worked up the field systematically. Short, sharp stick passes, using the flanks, support play and handpasses. But it seemed to be a case of going out and hurling. We didnât look very structured and lacked direction. I didnât see much savvy or game management. We donât seem to be able to think on our feet like the best teams.
I know hurling was traditionally free flowing and off the cuff but the best teams these days have defined styles and patterns of play. Our forward play wasnât slick (is it ever in Wexford?) and we donât seem to be able to create space and combine upfront to the extent necessary.
The best thing about Wexford today was persistence but I shouldnât be too critical because 1) they won and 2) theyâre children.
As ever, I could tell what was what after one viewing of the minor hurling team this year.
Is there a better scout of a team in any sport than me?
No, is the answer.
Wrong thread but in the absence of a Westmeath equivalent⌠thatâs some win for them. Theyâve only something like 7 senior clubs but have been putting in the work underage. I heard a year or two back that they wonât even play Offaly in underage challenges anymore because they beat the shite out of them.
I know a few fellas from Westmeath and they were very optimistic about this team. For the pick they have its a very good achievement. Think nearly all the hurling is done around Mullingar
Agreed. The hurling area is tiny. As you say, all around Mullingar. They must be decent as Wexford werenât bad. The Laois lads are very confident about this yearâs minors. The Dublin team is young enough seemingly but beat Offalyâs best team in a while handy enough after a bad start.
Went into this today.Classic case of one team turning up expecting a comfortable win while the other turned up expecting a serious battle. This is actually a good Wexford team but they were so flat and lacking in aggression.Westmeath on the otherhand are a decent outfit who fully deserved their win. They had some very physical players in the forwards and seemed to bully Wexford far too easily.
Thereâs great work being done by hurling people in Westmeath. Hurling needs a strong Westmeath.
COLEMAN OUT!!
Despite taking the favorites for the All-Ireland to extra-time and capturing the elusive Leinster league?
Thatâs karma for getting rid of the great Heffo Walsh shots for them !
Gaamad1996 would know who is over the county twitter account.
Leinster title? Hasnât been done since 85 pal
Good win for Westmeath against Antrim today. Westmeath are in pole position to top the group after 2 wins. If laois beat Westmeath and Antrim beat Carlow that would be 3 teams on 4pts. How would they decide the top 2 then? Suppose score difference?
