Wexford GAA 2015

Dirt. Injury, with 15 left to wmeath player. We didnā€™t come back out after it.

An infuriating game.

Daithi Waters, a hurler he is not.

If I feel like it Iā€™ll write a report later.

Wexford V Kilkenny

These are on June 20 and June 21. Where will these be played?

I think Kilkenny v Wexford is in Nowlan Park. Isnā€™t the home and away arrangement they have at U21 & minor level now replicated at senior? Last time they met in the Leinster Championship in 2011, it was played in Wexford Park.

Galway v Laois almost certainly in Tullamore, itā€™s on Sky too I believe.

Wexford vs Laois in the final is fixed for Croke Park I believe

McDonald was quiet as was McGovern .I actually thought Daithi did ok.Chin,Moore and Shore did well along with Ian Byrne
.Rory Jacob, Garrett Sinnott and Tomkins offered nothing when they came on as subs which is a worry. Westmeath full back was good.Wx didnā€™t look like they had much of a goal threat.

Got the job done. Will need to improve big time for the cats. Happy with the result 8 points win is good enough and the lads can quietly prepare for kk game.

Byrne was very good on the frees, I thought Morris showed well in the corner, waters did OK. McGovern Mac and guiney were quite but I expect big performances from them the next day out. Chin Ryan and Oā€™Keefe were very good.

Subs didnā€™t offer much. I think bringing Rory Jacob on wasnā€™t right. Podge Doran and Tomkinā€™s should have been on before him.

Is semi on sat or sun? A Saturday night in kilkenny would be an attractive fixture.

Focus seems to be gone off Wexford completely this year. They wonā€™t be given any chance going in against Kilkenny. Wexford wins over Kilkenny invariably happen when least expected - 1976, 1984, 1996 & 2004 springing to mind. Iā€™d give Wexford every chance of turning over Kilkenny on June 21.

Sunday at half 3 I believe.

Erroneous. 2pm.

I believe its on at 2. Thereā€™s a Sunday Game hurling double header on that day. The game that should be the curtain raiser for the television viewing public - Limerick v Tipperary has curiously been afforded the prime time starting slot of 4pm.

Thereā€™s been a lot of times when wexford havenā€™t been expected to beat kilkenny and kilkenny have beaten the shit out of us. 2011, 2008, 2007, 2006 and 2001 spring to mind.

You sure we didnā€™t beat the shit out of Wexford more?

Just in the last 15 years. There were periods of close games and then intermittent bouts of hammerings.

I ess in the midst of a report but then got struck with a bsod, will try compose one again laterā€¦

We started quite well going 2 points to 0 up inthe first 5 unfortunately, in a trend that would continue throughout the game, we conceded soft frees to let Westmeath back into it.

We seemed edgy in the opening quarter, as if we should be scoring for fun and almost seemed put out that Westmeath had the impertinence to mount some sort of challenge. We hassled and harried quite well throughout and there was some good hooking and blocking from forwards and backs alike. Unfortunately our distribution was not good, balls hit to Westmeath men who were standing between the striker of the ball and the intended target were a far too common occurrence, balls thumped into the corner that drifted over the end line. Still we were dominating up until McNicholas got injured at the end of the third quarter, he was down for approx 10 mins and we did revert with to the game with the same zest thereafter. i think we scored 7 points to Westmeath 1-9 in this period. worryingly Oā€™Hanlon looked a little bit lost when he followed Murtagh out to Centre forward.

The Westmeath full back was competent but had there been better delivery he would have been far more severely tested, everything was laboured.

The full back line played well with Ryan excelling, Hanlon and Moore were solid beside them, but i dread a very pacy full forward line. The half back line were adequate without being spectacular with the exception of Chin whom, i thought, had his best game at no.6 for Wexford. Shore was mixed the superb with the ridiculous while D. O Keefe worked very hard.

In Midfield Harry and Redmond worked hard but are too fond of soloing the ball and looking for a hand pass rather than looking to let the ball in quickly. The half forward line was probably our worst line on the field, Guiney looked disinterested whilst out there, Waters hit 2 points from 30 yards in the last 15 mins and ran around awkwardly, he misplaced hand passes, hit balls over the end line and generally did not look comfortable (imo) at all. Bearing in mind it was his first inter county hurling start but I donā€™t think he is near a good enough hurler to start centre forward. Ian Byrne hurled quite well but had a few errant frees in the second half.

Conor Mc was quite by his standards but was at the heart of everything good that we did i think he still got about 5 from play, McGovern was mostly anonymous, no service. Morris did well with what ball he got.

COMC STAR MAN: Lee Chin

I think ye could beat KK

Evening, chaps. Anyone have the feeling we didnā€™t want to give Kilkenny a look yesterdayat the way weā€™ll set up against them? I think we might have a few sneaky positional changes for Sunday week. I could see DaithĆ Waters going to midfield and a couple of other tweaks.
