23 Declan Murphy D. Ó MurchĂș Coil de Hora
24 Michael Dwyer M.Dubhuir Fiodh Ard

lots of young players in that panel, which is great to see. And there are quite a few young lads in the senior set up too just out of minor. From the team above, Jim Rossiter, Robbie Vallejo (but didnt play county minor), Jamie Carty, Graham Staples were all minor 2 years ago, Noel Roche (was out with heart problems for last year of minor) and Dylan Cloke (injured most of last year) were minor last year, and Mikey Dwyer is a minor this year, who was by far the best player we had against Dublin in the quarter final. Paudi Barden, Nevin Rossiter, Luke Rafter, Simon Donohoe, Kevin O Connor, Eoghan Nolan, Niall Hughes have all been in with the senior set up too for O Byrne cup and league, and all are U21 next year. There was also other minors from this year called in after their exit to Dublin, so its clear that Power very much has an eye on developing for the future. Having so many players under the age of 20 in a senior set up is a good thing for a long term objective, but it might unfortunately cost him in the short term as results may not go his way with an inexperienced line up. I hope he gets the time and pateince needed to blood in the players and get the most out of them.

Vallejo is a traditional New Ross surname?

yeah hard to know, I would have thought it was between Breen or Jim Rossiter for the full back spot.

I thought breen would do well on a big man i.e if heslin is to play there

Sunday will be a tough day at the office.

Power seems to be looking to the future alright, he has a very young squad assembled

I see Greg Malone, Naomhan Rossiter, Syl Byrne, Niall Hughes (all under 21 next year) and Joey Wadding didn’t play with the juniors last night after lining out against Wicklow. I’m guessing they are in the match-day squad for Mullingar?

Yep, whose going to be full-back?, Rossiter and Breen played there during the league. Who ever it is will be marking John Heslin

Big Dave Power’s quotes in the local papers seemed to imply that Breen was either injured or absent from the panel for a while recently and they were using last night’s match to get him back up to speed. More likely to be on the bench based on what I read.

Is he writing off this year? we have a lot of problem areas imo, midfield, full back, centre back. We will need everyone t ahve a good day in order to eek out a win

He is talking about a 2-3 programme, concentrating on bringing in young players and getting them up to the required fitness/physique for inter-county. It needs to be done in fairness. I’m sure he wants to do well this year and probably targeting staying up in Division 3, but the loss of Graham Molly and Daithi Waters was a big blow. I’d be a bit worried about the trip to Mullingar as it stands

Syl overage next year I think? You should probably know better though, but I think he was on the the ill fated team that lost to Carlow after a replay in 2012. And is Greg meant to be Glen? If it was, I didnt realise he was also called in. Really clever player, big and strong, but just lacks pace but would love to see him make the break through.

Next years U21 should be a good team. We’ve had a few years of progression with the minors and there are some really talented players from each year that could really contribute to a top team.

What club is Glen Malone?

Heard there are some quality minors coming through

Yea I think you could right @Gman about Syl, he’s under-age this summer, but possibly not next year.

I’m only surmising about Glen (spelled right this time) as he didn’t play last night after featuring in the first Junior game. He might just have been injured.

Shels, he’s Brian’s younger brother (I think)

yeah he is Brians younger brother. He was captain of last years minor team. Very good leader, and is very intelligent, but hard to place his best position. He was mainly a defender coming up through underage, but played around the middle as he got older, and was full forward with the minors. Not sure he’d be ready for the step up to senior yet, but he has the focus to push on and be in consideration.

Just reading there of our fantastic under 17 Tony Doran tournament win! Fantastic! Great to see that the underage rules don’t apply to our teams in the competition too!

I was told by a knowledgable hurling man earlier that TJ Reid, Colin Fennelly and one other player who started both All Irelands last year missed Kilkennys last serious challenge game and all 3 are less than 50-50 to start next Sunday.

We have these cunts beaten already

Wexford to beat Kilkenny by 7

If Wexford lose to the all Ireland champions to under 7 pts it will be a fantastic result.Unsettled team with a mouthy, stubborn as a mule manager does not equal success.Daithi Waters for Podge hasn’t worked.

PS JJ Doyle is the man for the Wexford job.
