Heard we had a comfortable victory over Na Piarsaigh last Sunday. Great confidence booster before the Waterford game. Any team news for Sunday?
I’d say he’ll ensure the DCU lads get a good run out
As part of a relatively new little tradition of mine, I will be making a “weekend away” out of the match following the “model county” (ref Brian Carty)
Previous trips have been
2016 - weekend in Tralee
2017- weekend in Carrick on Shannon
Departing Heuston, Dublin tomorrow lunch time I assume a group of ultras leaving Wexford early Sunday.
A game we have to target as winnable, mainly based on assumption we will be championship fit already and that Waterford won’t be too pushed about the league.
Will our hurling team be released tonight, fellas?
I have a question. Was Diarmuid O’Keeffe injured over the close season or did he resume training later than the others for another reason? He’s only been a bit part player in the Walsh Cup.
My understanding was the Dee was nursing an injury but I heard that in the pub so not sure how accurate that is.
I’d go with this team on Sunday
Fanning
Moore
Ryan
Reck
Murphy
Dee
OHanlon
P Foley
Nolan
K Foley
Guiney
Chin
Mac
Morris
Dunbar
Team is here
1.Mark Fanning
2.Damien Reck
3.Liam Ryan
4.Shaun Murphy
5.Paudie Foley
6.Matthew O’Hanlon
7.Simon Donohue
8.Kevin Foley
9.Dee O’Keeffe
10.Aidan Nolan
11.Lee Chin
12.Jack O’Connor
13.Paul Morris
14.David Dunne
15.Conor McDonald
Strong looking team. I guess Murphy to play sweeper with Dee dropping to half back and nolan into midfield. Guiney to come off the bench and be a game changer I hope.
I’d say it’ll be Diarmuid O’Keeffe to wing back, Jack O’Connor to midfield and Aidan Nolan at centre forward but foraging back. That leaves the 2-2 “box” in the forwards - Morris and Chin outside and Dunne and McDonald inside. Morris can swap with either of the two inside on occasion, while Chin can switch with any of the the midfield or Nolan if needed.

It’s probably as strong a team as we have available. Still think we could do with unearthing another specialist man marking defender and it’ll be good to add Rory O’Connor to the mix anywhere from midfield up. We also have the likes of Dunbar and Guiney as attacking options in the forwards.
Is Rory O’Connor injured at the moment? (seem to remember him needing some surgery or some such?)
Had a knee operation after St Martins won the county. Expected back towards end of the league.
Picture of the year wrapped up there Raylan. Hearty congratulations to you.
Fuck me I didn’t know they were in custody
Good to see 37 year old Nicky Doyle getting his chance eventually
I’d say there is a good 12 inches height difference between both Nicky Doyle’s!
Height and width I’d say!
Eoghan Nolan starting instead of Ben Brosnan (he’s been carrying an injury).
26 is Alan Nolan rather than Aidan Nolan as the latter is on the hurling panel and not the football one.
Footballers are losing 2-4 to 0-3 at half time. Playing a very cautious, slow build up, lateral, damage limitation type game with loads of men behind the ball and just recycling it from one side of the pitch to the other.
But then they conceded 2-3 in succession after leading 0-2 to 0-1 after around 20 minutes. Both goals “soccered” in by Seamie Quigley and both totally self-inflicted.
First one came from a point attempt hitting the post. Dropped down to a Wexford defender in space to the side of the goal around 8 yards out. The keeper in turn made a little run outside his post to offer himself as a passing option but the defender tripped himself up and left the ball behind him. Quigley promptly rolled the ball into the empty goal.
Second one was a sky scraper point attempt that was fisted from the end line outside of the goal back towards the square where Quigley was waiting to slot home. No Wexford player made a proper challenge on the end line or reacted to the fist.
Waters kicked the last point of the half after two early frees from Shanley.
