Wexford lead 14 man Carlow 9-8 at the half.
Carlow played with a strong wind in first half
Yup a 75M free was their last score of the half according to Twitter.
Wexford a squeaky win
A nearly full strength team barely beating 14 Carlow men on our own patch. I can only assume Davy had them training twice today before the game.
Step one on the way to an unbeaten season
Anyone hear Paul Clarke on Morning Ireland? Said it would be a moral victory for Wexford on Sunday if they could keep the Dubs to 15 or 16 points.
Sure Offaly hammered us. Gonna be a long season for the footballers.
They’re definitely going to struggle but not something you’d expect to hear from an opposition manager. Any reports on the hurling last night?
The Dubs need to win by 17 to get through. Was this a factor in it by saying if they dont beat Wexford by that much, Wexford will deny them progress so could consider that a moral victory?
Lads ye are Flying
Yes the footballers will struggle for a few seasons. I’m happy that the new man is going to build a new team/panel by bringing in promising youngsters who will no doubt need time to settle into intercounty football.
Some of these youngsters have a bright future in the game and we need to be patient and get behind these lads.
That would make a lot of sense
Possibly what he meant alright although hard to see how any intercounty team would see a 15 or 16 point loss to a development squad as a moral victory.
And it’s not as if Wexford would give a fuck whether or not the Dublin development team qualify for the latter stages of the O’Byrne Cup.
Maybe that’s more the delusional part rather than the actual defeat, that Wexford as such minows that denying them progress into the latter stages of a mickey mouse preseason tournament would be a moral victory.
Paul Clarke is a weirdo.
Poor enough fare. Mark Fanning hurt his neck in a training session on Saturday. No run out for Darren Byrne. Forwards were poor.
How did Kevin Foley go in the sweeper role?
one of the biggest talking points* and as reported on in the excellent new website for aspiring journalists was that Lee Chin has changed his red mycro helmet to a red Cooper helmet.
As the headline says, this huge change may take some time in getting used to. I mean, how will supporters be able to pick Chin out after being so used to his previous red helmet, to his now, eh, red helmet.
It was obviously confusing for some at the game, as reported, who were asking who was this mysterious No 8 for Wexford in a shiny new red helmet.
The very helpful Wexford Weekly (and no, it is not a Waterford Whispers type website, unfortunately in this case) has published pictures of Chin in his old Mycro and his new Cooper, which should hopefully help supporters recognise him.
*not a talking point.
