Does Tara rock?

As I said, I know his aunt and cousins and theyre very proud of him in spite of him going to naomh eanna, so why not give him the break? and the higher level hurling he’s playing, the more beneficial it is to the county

tired and unfunny and entirely predictable post from @Mac

I’m surprised youre let through the door in Frenches

His family are happy. Of course they are. What about his club who he was captain of who he jettisoned after one bad season? Where he stood in the dressing room after saying they’ll fight this and be back up next season making an inspirational speech and then having his head turned and not even going with the forms himself to be signed, sending his mother to do it.

The club level he is playing at will have no impact on his county level, he is already in on the senior squad. If he wasnt already on the squad, I’d have some agreement with you, but considering there are players ahead of him in the pecking order who are playing even further below than Ballygarret were this year after relegation, then that argument doesnt stack up.

Been discussed previously on here before in great detail, but he played a system and got his transfer. Ballygarret ended up being knocked out after extra time in hurling this year to duffry, who are favourites to beat Taghmon in the final. What difference would he have made to them if he stuck by his own words after the relegation final?

We had an issue like that once.

The simple fact is you cannot make a player play where he doesn’t want to, you are better off cutting him loose and working on your own club.

Really? never heard you (or @croppy_boy) mention that before…

whoever went up with the forms is neither here nor there. sure he’s fucked some people over, but who in all their lifetime hasnt

I disagree, we want lads playing at the highest level and we want lads who want to be playing at the highest level as often as possible and if naomh eanna win, hell be playing in the leinster club which will be more beneficial for his development

and hes not the first person to play that system and he certainly wont be the last. but he probably lives closer to gorey than ballygarrett in any event.

To an extent, yes, for the most part.

However there were other factors involved here that muddy the waters somewhat. Here is not the place for speculative rumours, but nonetheless, stand up to scrutiny. Plus, the club said to Dunbar, and publicly before the transfer was processed, that they would not stand in his way at all if he gave one year to get them back up, if they failed, so be it. That wouldnt be unreasonable.

@artfoley making a show of himself here.

Why not just jettison all these clubs altogether? Let’s pick 30 county players and let them play A vs B all year.

The fact is inter county players barely play or train with their clubs most of the year anyway. He’d been fine playing with his actual club and arguably it would have been better for him.

It shows his character, the fact he wouldnt even face his own chairman who for years was the one bringing him to training’s and games.

Him, if, and a big if, they win, then playing in the Leinster club will have very little impact on his ability at intercounty senior level. If every player playing club needs to be playing senior, then there needs to be something done to change that.

“probably lives closer to Gorey”. But doesnt. He lives where he lives, and where he played all his life.

@Gman is there any sense he was put under pressure by inter county management to make the transfer?

no, but there was some others

Like who?

but he hasn’t played in ballygarrett all his life, he would’ve started playing in riverchapel at the start

so you don’t thnk that playing quality opposition will have an effect on a players skills? ok

hes an amateur sportsman. Id be far more worried about the character of people who use the jersey to go out and commit assaults each week

I think the point being made here is that regardless of who he plays club hurling with, the majority of his time will be in a county training squad and playing intercounty games so the benefits gained from playing slightly better club players in negligible

What club do the riverchapel lads play with?

thanks snouticus
