We had a goal disallowed for four handpasses. But the fourth âhandpassâ wasnât a handpass as such, it was a palm into the net. The referee gave the goal initially before changing his mind after a long deliberation with umpires. Was his interpretation correct?
we played them one year in championship when he was coming back from injury. Was completely unplayable. Kilanerin won 1-12 to fuck all, he scored 1-11, 1-4 from play. Literally a one man team for Kilanerin for a few years in his prime. That may have been the year they won a county final, he got 10 points of their 1-12 and Shane Cullen got 9 points of Gusseranes 12.
Didnât Paddy White keep his scoreless from play one year?
Genuinely dont recall that to be honest. Be very surprised if he was kept scoreless. I know in 99 we lost a semi final to them and he did fuck all, got a welcoming tackle in the first minute and was quietened. Bar that, dont recall many games where we played that Forde didnt score.
Is it wrong that I read this and think itâs too good to be true?
Irish Examiner: Wexford proving to be model county after recording âŹ481k surplus.
may be somewhat over stating matters, but it definitely is well on the right track. Davy is making money for Wexford. I said it long before his first year was out that he wouldnt leave us in a financial hole like the way Waterford fucked things up and that weâd be better off for it all. There has been a huge increase in commercial revenue and a specific group formed going for the big money rather than all the shitty bits and bobs. Eanna Martin employed too for this reason.
The one thing I am not enthused by is the reduction in coaching funding. I dont know where they have cut that figure, but its the one area where funds should be increasing, not decreasing. In saying that, on the ground, there are more coaches out there and specifically with the new club coaching incentive there is definitely more coaching investment being done. So Iâd like to see where the 50 odd thousand reduction here comes from.
Davy will be putting in for a pay rise so he will
Theyâve said more coaches at a cheaper cost. Maybe theyâre bringing in less experienced fellas or cutting out the spoofers who charge a fortune and do fuck all. The likes of a lad whoâd arrive in a school, fuck out a load of balls and spend the whole time on his phone.
I wonder if the leinster council are paying more into the coaching wages. The same main coaches are there for the past 3 or 4 years. They havenât been replaced, but more coaches in, so doesnât make sense how it could be cheaper.
Most of those lads who go into school are on CE schemes so donât cost much.
Youâd know more than I do. Itâs all positive anyway but Iâd wondered how much of what Davey is paid goes through these books vs through other methods. And do all the donations that fund him go through these books too?
The clubs are paying for the coaches to come to their club/school for 20hrs/week.
Yeah Iâd imagine Davy money goes direct to him and not through county board records. Donations could be a different manner, depending on what way they are submitted
Jim Bolger is paying Davy directly. I have that from a very reliable source. Bolger seems to be a very impressive character, a very passionate Wexfordman.
The ones @Mac are talking about are the once a week school coaches on CE scheme.
The ones you are talking about are partly funded by clubs and the rest funded by leinster council and only in a select few clubs with the coach working in one, two or three clubs, depending on each setup.
Yup, he certainly is involved. Very public about his support and generosity. However there is a much more substantial donor who is very much a private person and not about the media spotlight.
I was just about to say this. Jim is happy enough for everyone to think its him and heâs been a great supporter over the years so he should be allowed have whatever credit comes from it. He has more money than sense but its his own decision what he chooses to do with it - once the Arabs let him.
Pat Neville?
Yeah if he is throwing a heap of money to a fund which ultimately helps out that the board can keep itâs own structures and funding in order, he should get all the credit he deserves. Many more have money but wouldnât help a thing, but moan about the state of the gaa in the county then.
He died about 5 years or more ago. Sponsored most of the development squad teams gear and jerseys.
