Wexford GAA 2022

The best part of the whole game was the first half where some 6ft5 manufactured hurler tried to do Matt Oā€™Hanlon as he was bursting out and he bounced off Matt as if heā€™d ran into a wall

Yeah plenty of young lads used so far. McGuckin got a good run out today and was certainly his best performance of his last 3 games. Cian Byrne x 2, Cian Molloy, Darragh Carley, Corey Byrne Dunbar, Oisin Pepper, Richie Lawlor, Kyle Scallon all new young additions to the panel. Weā€™ve not seen an influx of panel members like that for quite a while, so really positive.

Early days, but positive signs. The easy option would be to keep the main team in there and just hold their own, so performing well while getting depth in is a good thing.

Who am I kidding? Foley, Chin, ROC to come back in? All ireland here we come!

He was named to start in the Fitzgibbon but didnā€™t feature.

I seen him down on starting line up, was wondering if he played alright.

What is gordon Darcyā€™s role with them?

Rucking coach

You ask the question like a Garda at a checkpoint

@gman knows

No you just read it that way. I was curious. Getting Billy Walsh involved is impressive.

Cutting yerselves free of Davy was always going to be worth a bounce.

I would caution anyone getting too excited about the result today. It was as bad a game as Iā€™ve seen in a long time. But looking around the province I see no reason why Wexford canā€™t win Leinster tbh.

Egan has a good few lads in the background in slightly unofficial roles. The media have latched onto the Darcy thing cos they love rugby. The Walsh thing is far more meaningful. Thereā€™s a few others that wonā€™t see the light of day till late summer.

Egan seems incredibly smart and grounded. Heā€™s put a huge effort into finding the best of local talent in relevant support fields. Heā€™s going out of his way to make local support staff feel incredibly important.

My own personal opinion is that heā€™s achieved a mind boggling level of local support given the previous love in of Davey that existed. Anyone whoā€™s dealt with him walks away feeling like theyā€™re all part of the plan. And most importantly they feel like itā€™s about the teams success, not the managers. Iā€™m well impressed by him

Getting advice on professional sports set upā€™s and getting an edge. Egan said two weeks ago on South East Radio that he collects him and on the hour or so drive to Ferns he picks his brains on little things in ways to get an edge. Sean Oā€™Brien was brought into the squad in 2014 by Liam Dunne. Bernard Jackman was brought into the football squad in 2011 by Jason Ryan.

And since then there hasnā€™t been a single incidence of a Wexford GAA player pissing on a member of the public in Flannerys

Gordan wouldnā€™t have touched a hurl since the day he left Kennedy Park 30 years ago. Seems like a more affable fella than the bullock from Tullow mind.

Davy was magnanimous in his praise of Wexford last night on RTƉ. He reckoned they reverted to type.

On another note, Limerick 95 FM or whatever their radio station is called were claiming yesterday that they outnumbered Wexford 3 or 4 to 1 in the crowd size. Iā€™d doubt that was true was it? Seemed a sizeable Wexford contingent there.

4 to 1 is probably an exaggeration but it definitely seemed like there was more Limerick supporters there.

Definitely in the covered stand anyway. Although that might be in part because a lot of Limerick fans might have misjudged how long it takes to get to Wexford and arrived with an hour to spare and decided to just head into the ground early.
