Only 1 Leinster county capable of winning an All Ireland, last time they did was 2015 and hard to see another Leinster contender for the foreseeable, in that 8 year period we have had 2 Munster winners and another 2 Munster counties reaching AI finals, that’s competitiveness.
Waterford drew with Dublin a couple of months ago in Fraher Field.
Wexford beat Kilkenny in the sides’ last championship meeting. I’d have fancied us to beat them in a few weeks if it was a 7pm Saturday throw-in but we’ve no chance with the 2pm Sunday starting time.
Davyball has completely fucked Wexford hurling over. He developed a sweeper system where back can’t degend 1vs 1 or build play in a similar way. Honestly Dublin have the worst forward line of the top 9 teams and ye need a sweeper to defend and build play against them.
Davy singlehandedly destroyed Conor McDonald by leaving him play as a 1 man full forward line for years. Just like he did to Conor McGrath and is currently doing to Dessie H.
Davy also kept faith in the same 17 players and not developing anyone else. The core group are now all around 30 and there is nothing to replace them.
The above being said, Dublin will prob lose their games vs Kk and Galway. Ye will prob end up beating KKs 2nd team on the last day and qualify in 3rd.
Basically the group who were at his wedding and organised the mini-bus to Clare twice to tempt him back. He was very reluctant to trust anyone outside of that core group. At least the likes of Oisin Foley, Conor Hearne, Richie Lawlor etc have started to filter through under BDE.
There’s a real chasm between the Class of 92-94/95 and the Minor team of 2019 who would have been born in 2002. The only really productive year between that would be likes of ROC and Damien Reck born in 98’.
But what good is that to us? A shity trip to the dump that is thurles to give the 3rd place team in Munster a game for 50mins.
I could do without it this year.
Paudie Foley is a big loss.
Dublin had 8 1998 starters today. Serious return from a minor team. One of them even didnt make the minor panel.
I’d agree with that massively.
Jesus
Just having a think about the final day permutations has made me more optimistic. The quirk of the two draws (Kilkenny v Galway and Antrim v Dublin) are our trump cards. Kilkenny will be safely through on 7 points by the time they come to Wexford Park knowing that we can’t catch them on 4. This lends itself to a stronger possibility of a Wexford win. Galway also travel to Croker on the final day but know that a defeat to Dublin would cost them a place in the Leinster final. Therefore you’d fancy Galway to do the needful and help Wexford’s cause.
Ye’d be as well off out of it
A 7 point defeat to Clare in the quarter-finals is still very much alive.
Thats a fearful attitude pal
Offaly play third team in Leinster.
Depends on the outcome of the Joe McDonagh final does it not? Could be the likes of Carlow or Laois yet.
Some absolutely fabulous commentary on the various social media platforms following Wexford’s demise on Saturday.
Martin Storey’s interview really has awakened a longing for putting Big Tony on the edge of the square and letting the ball in to fuck.
Various suggestions for new management including a return to Davy as he is our only man.
The first solution to any GAA problem though as always is to ‘get rid of the county board’.
Which is mad really when you think about.
Just get rid of them be fucked.
And select a new one from the thousands of people interested in those voluntary positions.
I always say, any man who says get rid of the county board has never driven into a country grounds a couple of nights in a row and seen the same faces there doing the donkey work.
