Our defence couldnāt do anything about Jack Robinson (13) and Paddy Wood Gate (15) from what I seen. Werenāt playing defensive. Glen Malone decent going forward with KOāG the best of the lot. Impressed with debutant Cathal Stokes of Gorey who came on in first half in half forward line. Mark Rossiter on frees not bad either. Load of improvement to do for the league, but hey, itās only Jan. 4th.
Iām probably brutal compared to @Bandage or @Gman at reviews, my apologies.
@count_of_monte_crist your man up against a bigger/taller man this evening. He looks to have broadened out again? Had an alright game between half back line and midfield, Kildare were rapid on the attack, not much he could do.
Taught Liam Doyle and Kinsella had a few good moments too, pity Kinsella didnāt get that goal chance. Wouldnāt be a good sign Rossiter getting 9 out of 11 points, pity Nolan from Horeswood doesnāt seem to be in the panel,Kirwan no.14 got some lovely scores for Kildare too, aside from the game no sign of the 1 way traffic system, boxing club car park was blocked alright.
Yeah a real lack of scoring forwards available at present really even looking at the club game. John Turbritt should be a good addition when heās back later in the year. Is Alan Tobin not on the panel now? He was decent enough at wing-forward in recent years.
yeah hard to know how to fix shooting like that, particularly if its more in the head. If its a younger player its a lot easier, older lads know the story and its really only down to them to be able to sort the yips. I would never have had shooting as his main attribute though, really good pace and being able to score certainly, but accuracy or a straight up kicker of a ball Iād never had him in the top tier of club players.
heās an excellent passer when deployed further out the field but would be classed as having a wand of a left boot, not sure if he has been encouraged to shoot in recent years as he seems to be positioned as a ācarrierā from wing back to half fwd line.
only 3 men scored more than him in the club championship this year
yeah his pace and distribution would be his main attributes IMO. And maybe it sounds like an oxymoron, but although he was third top scorer, I just wouldnt see him as a point kicker like say Rossiter if you get what I mean. Most of KOGs scores would be good interlinking play and him using his pace to kick over reasonably centrally from 30 yards or so. And I dont mean that to be critical!
I think maybe another way to look at it, and not necessarily with KOG, but just in general. You could have a player who is a very good scorer and gets a lot of scores, but wouldnt exactly call him a good shooter, and you could have someone who is excellent at point shooting, but might not necessarily score a lot. Obviously the one you want more is who gets you most scores.
