Yeah noticed that, good to see.

it’s what the Byrne cup is made for, loads of options in defence, maybe less so in the forwards…

Good to see plenty of new lads getting chances, think Ryan and Devitt at 27/28 are 2 oldest on the team.

Still the Fethard lads to comeback as well.

The Derek McGrath effect.

Im really happy with the hurling team thats been announced. BDE is giving lads that have showed well for their clubs a chance and by doing so has picked an exciting team.

An absolute legend On the Couch with @officialwexgaa this week. Only the great Mickey Connors ( cc @anon67715551 ), looking forward to this.

Surprised they didn’t get Larry involved. Looking forward to that.

I’ve nothing but warm memories of my afternoon in his company.

A raconteur, a fíor gael and a gentleman. He spearheaded a contingent from HWH at my BIL’s funeral 2 months ago but as I was in “the official mourning party” we only managed a quick handshake and a knowing wink.

He’s standing the times well in fairness.

It is surprising actually. Larry is one of the best people I’ve ever known, an absolute gentleman. He’s loquacious as well and would be a great guest.
In 2010 I had just arrived home when we won the Intermediate hurling. The team arrived into the hotel in Bunclody, me standing at the bar with the oul fella. In comes the team, hoopla everywhere. Larry, the guest of honour, spies me and wades through the throng to give me a massive bear hug and a “welcome home Fitzy”. I felt 20 feet tall.

He’s unbelievable and no doubt as sharp as a tack now. That whole family have given so much to the town and it stems from Mickey, a born leader of men.

He’d be an auld friend of mine. Came down to the Gaelic bar one day after a match. Regaled lads with songs and poems, hilarious stuff! Out and out showman, and an absolute gentleman to boot.
