If you buy a new diesel car the air coming out of it is cleaner than the air going into it. Allegedly

That’s like saying we government can’t fix X y or z because there’s no money for health. You can do more than one thing. The small problems also need to be fixed.

Ok, the discussion was on a global scale… bury the head in the sand all you want. It makes full all difference on a global scale what trees are in Ireland, when areas the size of Ireland are being lost yearly in forests that actually make a difference on a global scale…
on a micro scale, sure, it makes sense to plant trees in Ireland… but who’s going to do it? There’s fuck all money in it. Government funded? Not going to happen.
There is a forestry business in the family so I may be speaking out of self interest when I say we should plant more trees, just to clarify any potential conflicts of interest.

Hard to say. Maybe if people stopped buying cheap ex-rainforest beef/soya and started eating local lamb instead.
Provide all farmers with trees and bushes, wild flower seeds, fencing and beehives -under the condition that they get planted, minded etc. You’ll see a lot more activity than relying on lads with a gra for greta
