Have you examples of this, it’s pretty impressive how much influence the Greens have being the minor player in the Government but all I can see is FFG trying to appease big industry
Green agenda is twofold.
1: Tax.
2: Pension top up.
Yeah mate, tax polluters
TFK can do its bit by holding back the likes on the Ravenous thread for pictures of big hunks of meat.
Ffs a small scale collection would only involve an enclosed slurry pit compressor and tank. On a farmers yard. Would be similar size to what a milking parlours utilities take up. Not many live directly next to the farm bar the farmer itself. Don’t see how this could be so much of an issue. Wind turbines I can understand why people would oppose
Not to forget a majority of the land cleared from the amazon was for soy. So changing to a plant based diet will only drive up the demand for this.
As an aside what percentage of feed for cattle is imported feed vs grass and silage saved?
I see gteta will be addressing tens of thousands of climate ‘activists’ in Glasgow. Her fans are bound to be bored with the stolen childhood/empty promisis/blah blah content. Nevertheless I really hope she doesn’t get too technical with the science etc!
I believe they’re a bit bigger than that. Scale is what’s required. Might be wrong but I think one in Thurles requires slurry from a 30km radius
We are now importing thousands of tonnes of peat to grow mushrooms. Previously this peat was produced in this country.
It’s miniscule.
There is a bit of trading going on with grain though as it is a commodity, a decent amount of Irish grain is exported with pretty much the same thing coming in on boats bar maize and soya.
Micro generation should be possible. A tfk millionaire incoming
North cark that’s my back yard. I say no.
Too late…
Close peat plants, so we can burn more coal. Stop cutting turf in Ireland so we can import peat from Latvia. Ban the development of LPG terminal vital for energy security, so we can eh, burn more coal, or import gas from the UK at a higher cost. Stop development of new gas fields in Ireland, while being completely reliant on gas to facilitate the wind mills, so we import it instead, but that’s fine, because we can say we aren’t developing any new gas fields and feel better about ourselves, while achieving the grand total of fuck all.
Being anti nuclear depsite it being by far the most environmentally friendly option available.
We also import nuclear generated power.
Nuclear is the way forward for humanity
Can someone fact check this please? According to the CSO we export thousands of tonnes of peat still
