And some sort of crocodile deterrent…an underwater electric fence or something
The cunts should stop selling coal to China then.
1000%
he brought in a piece of coal to parliament ffs
of all countries they should be leading the way
High speed rail network is a basic requirement if we’re serious about climate change. Crawling through East Galway here, its embarrassing.
Fingal is being sorted as we speak mate
time to get Greens into Galway
these once in a thousand year event seems to be happening every few months now
@Little_Lord_Fauntleroy serious short sightness showing here. Climate action is long term and doesnt change due to human stupidity or madness
do chimneys cause drafts?
surely building houses air tight rather than this is better
“Cold War”
A really efficient way to make your house engery inefficient.
Politicians are great for spotting a problem and coming out with dim-witted solutions.
The problem here is energy security but this isnt the solution. If gas supply becomes really tight and rationioning is introduced i would saw it will be sent to produce electricity. Keeping the grid going. A house with no chimney most likely will have a heat pump.
If you have an open fire or stove with a back burner you probably have a back boiler to send the heat to the central heating system. This requires an electric pump which will be useless if we are experiencing blackouts. You have a better chance of heating ylur home in this scenario with have solar heat and a heat pump with a well insulatied house wothout a big hole in the roof.
If baffles me how thick councillor’s are.
On energy security there isnt anything we can do short term, we are over a barrell. We need to drive on with increasing renewable engery. At least the wind energy with its flaws will cover most of our needs but we need to figure out the difference. Again this will be long term
Do heat pumps not need a lot of electricity to run.
I’ve heard from a few lads with them that the theory of them and the reality of them is very different.
no
Ive no idea on how much they actually use, i dunno if anyone on here has one can speak to this. In theory all you are powering is the compressor to increase the pressure of ghe refrigeratant fluid, thus increasimg the temperature to be dumped into the water going to the cylinder in the hot press. It really depends on how much electricity is needed for that compressor. In reality it is the same as a fridge in reverse. Its basic thermodynamics. The theory is solid and the efficiency in theory is far greater that buring fossil fuels
The FIL was looking into getting one but the cost even with the grant was very high and his friend who has one said wait a few years for the technology to improve. Again i cant speak about that as i dont really know
Removing chimneys will be the new solar panels. Must be a ball of heat going out the fucking thing and I never light it
Have you tried shoving your thumb up it? Or one of those balloons made for the job?
With all the insulation, new windows draft excluders in the world wont prevent the amount of heat lost thtough a chimney. New houses dont need them
How small is your Chimney? Or how big is your thumb
They don’t need electricity ?
That wasnt your question
