I was looking at a mates Galaxy 2 at the weekend and I must say it’s a smashing phone from the brief bit I saw of it.

It is indeed Runty. I’m thoroughly satisfied with mine.

Have it for the past 6 weeks, great phone alright. Must get a proper cover for it.

Not a big fan of the Kies application though, loads of issue getting phone connected to PC for updates, sync etc.

Whats your experiences Rocko?

Any experience I’ve had with Kies has been that is absolutely shocking alright.
Are there better Android managers you could get for the phone?

Yeah Kies isn’t great KP. I find Kies Air to be fine for small transfers over wifi but Kies itself is as slow and stuttering and badly laid out as every other piece of phone software. Yet to come across one that works well but Kies certainly isn’t even in the top half for me.

Do any of ye have insurance on your smartphones?

If so do you just have it with the mobile provider or is there some other companies out there offering good deals?

I have yet to get it to connect to my phone correctly, keep resetting itself. A new version of the software is available today so going to give it another go before looking elsewhere on the app market.

Great camera though. No need to scan documents anymore.

Insure it as part of your house insurance you numpty

How does that work, what if phone gets robbed while out or gets broken or something, is it still covered?

It is covered for accidental damage up to a £500 It is also covered for theft etc, falls under the content insurance. Have my laptops insurered the same way as well

Must look into that so, would the premium go up much?

very little, a couple of euro a month i’d say

not sure how much better the iphone4 is than the iphone3gs in all honesty.

i have never once used the facetalk app on the iPhone 4 for example, does anyone here use it?. sure the camera might be better and the graphics but not sure what else. the iPhone though i must say is a very user friendly phone for technophobes like myself.

the techies in the office have nearly all switched to the android phones. the samsung galaxy seems to be the phone of choice at the moment. then again they buy every gadget going so im sure the iphone5 will be all the rage in a few months.

puke - how does it work if your phone is lost/stolen re claiming insurance? hard to know if the insurance company would trust that someone broke into your house without damaging anything and nicking the phone only.

If it is robbed in the pub etc it is still covered. It works pretty much the exact same way the mobile phone insurance o2/vodafone will try and sell you just that it falls under your house insurance premium.

Things don’t have to be stolen from your home to be covered by home insurance.

You can usually add specific items to a list and they’ll be covered if they’re taken or lost outside the home. Depends on the cover and provider though.

Do you have to show them the phone though? Might seem a stupid question but how otherwise will they know you actually have one. With the 3 mobile insurance you’ve to actually bring the phone in to them to sign up to prove you haven’t already lost it.

Another possible problem I’ve seen elsewhere on the internet is that the home insurance will have a higher excess and also you will lose your no claims bonus on it if making a claim which could send your premium up a good bit

No you don’t have to. you set a limit as to how much you want to be covered for, think mind is up to £500 for the phone and £1000 for the laptop, along with 10k of content cover, for £12 a month off my bank. if i drop the laptop in the morning and make shit of the screen they will send out an assessor and he will aportion teh cost to get it fixed or the price to replace the laptop. But i am sure if they felt that you were trying to pull a fast one they would lok for receipts, warrenty in your name or some other form of proof of ownership
