Had my mind made up on the Sensation but the sites I trust most for reviews (CNet and Engadget) were reasonably decisive in favour of the Galaxy 2. Browsing and video watching would be two big enough uses for me and the screen on the Galaxy 2 is far enough better to swing it that way for me. Also like the idea of custom ROMs etc that are currently locked on the Sensation - though maybe not for long.
The build quality definitely doesn’t seem as solid as the HTC but the big advantage it has is it’s slimmer and far lighter. Not a huge thing for me but I think the trade-off for the weight is the material. Wouldn’t be enough to sway me either way I don’t think.
Haven’t had a Samsung since a Tocco. Wouldn’t compare back that far though, Android has completely changed the outlook for Samsung and HTC. They’re vastly different phones since they switched to that platform.
Oh and by the way, something I noticed a couple of days ago - the Vodafone, O2, Meteor, Three and Emobile shops are all within spitting distance of each other on the spire side of Henry Street so could be worth a wander in.
Very little chat about the iphone on here apart from Clarkey. Is he the only one who has one?
What do you find good or bad about it Clarkey? Also how much data etc would you use per month?
Three are offering a free iphone for 40 euro a month. With that you get 350 flexi units (1 min call is 1 unit, 2 texts is one unit). Also a free add on of 150 weekend minutes till next year and free calls to others on three and ‘all you can eat’ data. (24 mth contract but that wouldn’t bother me unless coverage was shit)
Has anyone personal experience of the three network as the network being shit seems the only possible draw back to this?
obviously very few others are going to be on three so the free calls to three is worth fuck all but I would do more texting and I believe there is some jellysms (?) thing that allows you use your free webtexts through your phone. Is this as simple as it seems or is there a catch?
Would like to go for the iphone as it’s the most straightforward to use and seems to have the most apps
Had an iphone 3gs and they’re a fine piece of a phone and no doubt the iphone 4 is significantly better.
Only moved to Android because I fucked up my phone with some poor handling and I have a couple of other android devices already (an mp4 player type thing and a tablet pad thing) so would rather be consistent. Plus, there are some things that I prefer about the phone I got but you certainly can’t go wrong with an iphone. Unless it gives you cancer I guess.
I think Three coverage is pretty good, I’m with them for mobile broadband and generally receive a good signal anywhere I go.
I’m stuck in an O2 phone contract, and where I live at the moment has poor O2 coverage. A few mates of mine have gone to Three and can receive 3G coverage in most places so I reckon I’ll be making the switch in a few months.
how old is the phone and what model cm? if it’s your phone and you’ve registered with o2.ie you should be able to get thenetwork unlock code when youy login
